Signifgance of 3° C (37.4° F)?

I noticed, once the external temperature hits 3 degrees Celsius(37.4F) the vehicle chimes and a notification is displayed on our dashboard display with a Snowflake symbol.

What's significance of this? Is there something we should watch out for? Tire pressures, Battery level etc.?

It's to advise you that the temp is cold enough to make roads slippery.

It's just to indicate to drive cautiously. Almost every modern car has some form of warning like this.

Exactly... at 3C air temperatures, roads can have icing, depending on where we live and drive. See it quite often, here in the Scottish Highlands. Hear the 'bong', time to be on alert for icing.

Means a-lot actually

https://science.howstuffworks.com/na...black-ice2.htm

Essentially if the climate is 37 or below, and the ground already has ice on it (or did), ground temperature will still support icy conditions. Arid climates are especially notorious for having this issue when ice does happen.

it means that if you are driving in the rain and temps fall below 37, and you still have summer tires on you are fuqd

it also means don't drive like an ahole if it's icy

I find this notice annoying when it's like -28c. Thanks for reminding me that it is a cold day.

Is it not engine temp and battery charge state that determines that?
My other two cars (Merc C Class and Skoda Kodiaq) both have start/stop functioning perfectly normally in even -5 or below once up to temp.

Mine will still turn off if it's well below zero, just won't while the car is still getting up to temperature

In my case - it's always like that.

I hate ASS and I always turn it off except when the temperature is below 3 ℃ - in that case I don't need to turn it off.

No wonder there are accidents when people don't even recognise the "beware of ice" warning in their car.

This! Most people who drive these cars with fancy wheels have NO IDEA what tires are on their car.

Further people go buy SUVs with sport wheels that come with summer tires and still treat them like AWD utlity trucks and go up to the mountains.

Our SQ5 doesn't come out when it is less than 40F out bec the darn thing came with summer only tires. (no other choice) Good job Audi!

You probably have the 21”s on your Audi. The smaller rims come with AS tyres. And I have aftermarket AS tyres in my SQ5 with 21”.

Mine is a MK1 with 20s..... came with summer only tires and all seasons were not on option on 20s or 21s at the time. We factory ordered it.

I see now you have an option with 20" wheels. That's is a good change and we would of taken that for sure.
