High Beam Assist Prep - UK recent delivered cars
Hi all
Apologies, as I know this has been discussed to death in other parts of the forum, but just a quick quiestion to anyone thats recently taken delivery of a 330e (and others probably).... Did it come with the "HBA" button on the left stalk in preperation for enabling the function via ConnectedDrive? My configurator output has "OAAS Prep for High Beam Assist" or similar, so was expecting it to be there, however reading other posts (from US mainly), people have had to buy replacement stalks off ebay etc. Im hoping to avoid all that and just have to pay the one-off fee; although does seem a bit of a scam by BMW to install buttons that dont work until you pay the extra... dont think I could cope with a button in the car that did nothing! Thanks in advance.

I am sure HBA, offered as a post delivery 'add on' for a mere £160 one off lifetime payment will come as a welcome surprise to all those with the facility, especially for the majority of people who couldn't seriously justify the astronomical laser light option.
In 2016, HBA was a £695 option on my F30 330e so demonstrates a considerable reduction in price, which is quite rare in the new car buying world. Highly recommended, from a 4.5 year user of HBA in a 330e 👍🏻 My current ride is a Sept 20, G20 330e M Sport Plus 🎉 with the HBA added after delivery |

Exactly right seelark, I changed my order from a high spec 330 Touring to a more modest specced M340 (due late Feb) and although I can’t believe I’ll miss the Laser lights, the HBA, which I have on my current F31 340, I would miss as they seemed to nail it on this generation, whereas on my previous F11 it was pretty slow and virtually useless. Very good to know it can be added on. Will the dealer do this or does it need to be coded (by my son!)?

Does anyone have experience of the £160 option? I’m mainly city based but with the odd bit of country road driving. I’m thinking it’s probably worth it and annoying to have the button that when pressed tells you you need to buy.
I know they discounted stuff in the connected drive store on Black Friday so might wait until they do another sale and jump on it then. |

I'm guessing for something thats £160, its not going to be massive so thinking of just taking the plunge as soon as I can and snapping it up... before they put the price up. I've not got a VIN number yet, let alone a car, so will be a while for me.

App just takes you to a browser to log in to connected drive store. Once you link the car to your account it shows what is available for purchase for your VIN. I think it went down to about £130 in Black Friday, I didn't have my car so at that point so didn't purchase. Not worth waiting until November for £30 IMO so might go for it now. |
