It's actually more than that:
F30: 4m62 ➡ G20: 4m71 ➡ +9cm
F32: 4m64 ➡ G22: 4m77 ➡ +13cm.

A very hefty size increase, which bears the question of where all that extra length has gone since livabilit/trunk haven't improved noticeably. The next 4GC/i4 will probably just carry over the Coupé's wheelbase and total length, like the current 4GC does, and not the Chinese 3er Li's extended wheelbase as one might have expected.

I remember well the growing excitement I had seeing the F32/F82 emerge and I was not disappointed. I think the F series coupes are just great looking cars. This has a great silhouette but then the lights come on and... meh.

Still interested to see how this translates into an M version but I think my F82 can sleep soundly.

Kudos to those that get one though, the world would be a less interesting place if we all like the same thing.

Just read the best comment yet from Jalopnik.

"But god damn does it kind of look like they mounted a spare wheel on the front."

Welcome to the 996 911 era for BMW!

At least Porsche listened and reverted back to classic styling cues.
BMW PLEASE fix the GRILL, the body line and the Hofmeister kink.
The only thing they didn’t do is eliminate the damn Angel eyes like the 5series LCI.

No not everybody..I posted this photoshop with the kink...I still dont understand why they'd eliminate it as it looks so much better with..its not only part of BMW heritage and a distinctive mark but also makes the car look so much more sportier looking.
A terrible decision by BMW designers, and really the only reason that makes me hate this car.

Its all about the $$$ now - they are not even trying to pretend there are performance benefits. BMW sold out and there are reasons so many ///M ppl left the company.

If you have to put effort in it to like a car design, and each time you look at it, something still doesn't look or feel right, then stop trying so hard...you just don't like the design.

The same stupid reason that BMW offers red leather in the coupes and SUV coupes yet not the regular vehicles. Because "SPORTY" :

1. Just because their ancient cars had big grilles, it doesnt mean that they'd look good on a modern car.

2. I had a discussion with another poster in another thread about the side line being below the door handles. Now i cant unsee it and it is bothering me just as much as the kidneys. Sorry dude, you were right. It IS a big deal and it ruins yet another side of the car.

3. What a boring, bland, uninspired interior.

4. Why wont they improve their digital display? It's all graphics, just put a kid on the job and at the end of the day you'll have 1000 different skins. Why are we stuck with this dark display with a shitty map and a reversed revmeter? What's the point of a digital display if it's not customizable?

This car deserves a review from Jeremy Clarkson, who blows it up at the end of the video.

Agree on both counts. Also, they need harder body lines, these soft lines make the cars look fatter than their predecessors.

Hmmm... but aren't the M variants (coupe and sedan) "sport " lines??

And I'm also pissed about the "mild hybrid" setup... wasn't ready for the G20 I guess... this is my last time being an early adopter!

I thought M sport seats were coming to the G20 for MY2021? Maybe not in all markets?

Ya it's a homage to earlier BMWs but no one my age gives a damn about earlier BMWs. Forget the grilles, the rest of the car is just soft. It doesn't look masculine at all. The rear 3/4 looks droopy and could easily be an Infiniti. Even all the tacked on M bits still makes the car look soft. Where are the bold, hard body lines? Audi absolutely killed it with the current gen S5/RS5. Thats a aggressive looking coupe, and what I expected from a sporty BMW.

https://media-service.audiusa.com/s7...=2883&hei=1622

2 of my other 22-23 year old friends are F80 owners were excited about the new gen. not so much anymore. Audi has been killing it lately with the younger demographic because they can make bold, sporty looking cars that are also classy. This thing looks like a droopy infiniti with some ricer bits thrown on.

No offense, but the ideal bmw customer isn’t 22 years old. It’s much older, that being said, this car looks horrendous from all angles.

I agree the G20 3 series looks far better than the G22 and def the model to grab alongside the G80. The new 4 looks like a mix and mash parts from Audi, Lexus, and Infiniti.

Looks like a Lexus from the rear.
The front end is decent but man those grilles just throw it all off. It was a bold move with the new X7, that was a hint to the next models going down.

In my honest opinion, the m performance model kind of subsidizes the ugly look, but all in all, I would prefer the latest m340i. Obv the new M3 will be a challenging decision, to accept the rather large grilles or not

Best of luck to those who would think of spending that kind of money.
