G20 330i Active Sound Deactivation?

Good day all!

I looked through the forum and I haven't seen anything on this topic yet.

I was wondering if there is a way to disable ASD in the G20 330i (with or without Harman Kardon option).

First thing I'd want to do if I ever got my hands on this car is to kill that thing

Please share if there is a newbie tutorial for this.

Are you sure 330i has ASD? My understanding is that not every model has it. I've assumed that 330i isn't a model that BMW would implement ASD. I might be wrong.

Yes unfortunately it has ASD. It is especially loud on sport/sport+ mode.

Of course it will not be a deal breaker for me, but I will definitely want to disable it.

I'm planning to get the car within the next month or so, and the first thing I want to do is to kill that thing

Please let me know if there is a newbie tutorial for this.

you can easily do it in esys since bimmercode doesnt support the latest n newest bmw available (correct me if im wrong).

all you have to do is FDL code these parameters:

1. in HU_NBT_EVO module>>> ASD_SOUND_OFF value to be Aktiv
2. in ASD Module>>>> Model_Range value to be F020/F021

hope it helps.

The G20 has no ASD module as in the F30, therefore it cannot be coded off as in the F30. The ASD feature is now integrated into the Booster - either separate OEM amp for the "acoustic sensor" speaker or the Top HiFi systems.

No more engine sound mixing with the music either. The ASD feature has its own speaker - the "acoustic sensor". Therefore, unplugging the speaker should stop the engine sound.

Is there any available tutorial on that? I'm not sure how to unplug this "acoustic sensor", or even its place in the car.

Anyone find out of there is a way to just unplug the speaking for the active sound. I hate hearing it and would love to disconnect or remove the fuse or anything at all that gets rid of it.

That would certainly work but it might create a fault error, within the ECU mapping, if they're not communicating with each other.

The only smart solution is coding it out, if possible..

I'm sorry, not sure if I understand. I do not have any experiences with coding a BMW, would appreciate if you referred me to a detailed guide on how to do that maybe?

Get the Bimmercode app. So easy. As of now they only have a few things that can be coded for the G20. The list will grow over time and hopefully the artificial sound will become of them.

Hi, just wondering what software you used to code that or to retrieve these coding options from the vehicle? Very interested in doing this if it’s esys and it’s possible on the vehicle now.

Can’t the dealership/shop just turn off active sound design? I’m sure there’s a setting they can change when it’s hooked up to the computer?

This is now possible with the latest beta version of Bimmercode.
