So we'll just have to sit back and see what happens - of course others will follow as they always do. And that's a good thing - competition keeps everyone on their toes. |

yes I was there - now whether that is within Alex's comfort zone we will see - he only tunes/builds cars that can withstand all day track abuse vs chasing dyno numbers / I only say this because I have a 2017 340MSport tuned by him that we absolutely abuse on a regular basis and it never skips a beat at BCCA AutoX track days etc - my car can't wait to be traded in so someone will be nice to it ;-)

Video of the Mission Performance Dyno run!
Stock dyno is kind of disappointing, considering the Supra with the same engine is putting down 360+ hp depending on the dyno. I know there are a lot of variables with dynos, but still seems kind of low for stock. xDrive might be even lower? Maybe its just a particular dyno that is reading high on the Supra - found a few dynos that showed around ~320-335hp for the Supra as well which puts it right in line with what this 340i is putting down. The numbers M340i puts down are pretty close to advertised crank HP. Remember, every single dyno is different and I have seen Dynojets put down nearly 350whp on STOCK non MPPSK 340i, which is extremely over inflated.
We have also tested a supra on near same dynojet, and numbers came in at consistent 322/350 wheel. Don't forget, that was on a first software release from production line. Toyota/BMW will likely also issue same software patch to lower the power on those engines just like they did on M340i. As a comparison, here is a dyno chart of the stock 2017 340i Non-MPPSK on the same dyno: With standard 8HP loss of about 10%, the 340i is actually making 323whp, just like advertised. With the same drivetrain loss, M340i before the July update made 381whp, but that was lowered to 371whp. In the future, BMW might go back to the figures on the Pre-July update, but that is not very likely. |

*edit* and the same in reverse of course - back to stock in minutes. It's fun every once in a while to set the car back to stock just to remind yourself how much more power you now have :-) Last edited by chenry; 07-31-2019 at 05:49 PM.. |

Would this void warranty and is it guaranteed to hide it from the dealer if we revert it back to stock?? I know some BMW's have detection that when it detects it gets tuned it'll store is somewhere

That said after decades of owning tuned BMWs I've never had an issue - however I always align myself with tuners that don't push my engine into the warranty zone (i mean they do because any modification is subject to warranty denial but some tuners are searching for dyno bragging rights on line while others are making high hp daily drivers and/or track cars that can stand the abuse) I align myself with the latter I started with Dinan in 1987 and now find myself with Alex and MP / I'm happy with both decisions. If you look at the F30 B58 forum you'll see people arguing over HP numbers without concern for drivability, longevity or the ability to take day after day of abuse or a day at the track.....no thanks (for me but maybe good for you ....all good) Good for the kids but not for this guy. Your car your decision :-) ps-trust me Alex can build a B58 that delivers outrageous HP/TQ but he'll never bring it to market for reliability and longevity reasons / might do it to his own car and then show us how he melted his DME or shredded the turbo but won't let it out for public consumption Last edited by chenry; 07-31-2019 at 10:34 PM.. |

I test drove an early VIN car before I ordered mine (arriving in a couple of weeks)...am I the only one who may feel a little screwed over based on the difference in performance?

I'm guessing BMW will eventually release an MPPSK or something similar to raise it up to 430hp at the crank, after the G80 M3 comes out. |

From your experience so far what's the difference between the B58 in the M340i and the B58 in the 340i ? Does the M340i has a bigger turbo ?
I know engine internals are different except the con rods are the same, also the M340i has lower compression ratio. Both engines tuned should reach same power levels ? Quote:
