Many complainers will end up driving a G20. Just as they bought E90 examples and then the F30.

BTW, I don't understand it either, and I've been around BMW since the 1970's. It's a new model, it will be different, that's the idea!
I’ve bought BMWs since the 1970s and have loved almost every model. This car looks cheap and tacky, is very uncomfortable and is too expensive.

And while it may drive nice and be fast, I guarantee you I will have the same sentiment about this car in regards to it's shortcomings in 10, 20 years and so on. My issues are with the serious design flaws and the intrusion of electronic assistance in the driving of the vehicle. It will not age well, and it will not be an enthusiast vehicle. It doesn't align with any of the formulas BMW has used in the past to make a good car. This car is designed and made for $329/month leases. Nothing else.
I have no doubt that you have taken up your position, having driven the car obviously, and that absolutely nothing will make you deviate from your position. I have also no doubt that your opinion is worthless to me .

Cringing.

I have pictures of the engine. There are some hardware changes. The air box is different, the throttle body and throttle pipe is different, and so are the coolant reservoir tanks. I also have pictures of the turbo which appears to look the same, but possibly different on the internal? The downpipe also appears to be the same. I tried taking the engine cover off, but didn't feel too comfortable doing so. Will post it up later not sure if anyone beat me to it.

But the F30 100% delivered all the criticism it received. It was not just the usual complaining new models get.

The driving experience was noticeably un-BMW-like. And the interior, aside from barely looking different from its predecessor, was noticeably cheaper. That car will forever be amongst one of the BMW's worst.

Personally, I welcome the G20 with open arms. It looks good, the interior is finally different and modern, and it will hopefully be a drivers' car (can't be any worse than the terrible F30).

I don't think all F30 are bad. There's a difference between a nicely optioned-out 340i M-pack + ZTR and a 328 lease special, in looks and driving dynamics.

Beat me too it! I've read an article that states the M340i has a revised turbo system along with a aluminium crank case and cylinder head.

The turbo did look different when I flashed some light in there and the intake setup is different. The windshield washier reservoir was moved as well. Anyone know what that thing is attached to the top of the air filter area?

If the power increase is based off hardware enhancements, I'll probably go with the M340i. If the bump is just a tune increase, chances are I will pass.

The M340i will likely be using the new B58C engine which is used in both the Z4 and the new X5. This engine is using a new integrated exhaust manifold design which is cooled by the engine coolant and allows the catalytic converter to heat up faster on cold starts.

Any internal changes on the turbo as far as performance or it's more of a emissions related change?

It shouldn't even be like that. There was a time, as short as a 6-7 yrs ago when the E90 was still around, that every single 3-series was a hoot to drive no matter how basic or low on power it was.

Plus the highly optioned LCI F30s were still not good enough to drive. You can only polish a flawed product, in this case a turd, so much.

I don't know I'm seriously considering the last 2018 6MT M340i with ZMP and ZTR. I drove one and it's fantastic in Sport mode with a stick.

Disagree. Not every e90 was a great drive. The first pic, 328, $299/mo lease special with vinyl seats and halogen lamps was horrible. And it didn't drive anything like LCI e90 335 M-sport in the second pic. I remember seeing those ugly 328 with basic ashy, horrible offset wheels everywhere.

My buddy had a stripper 328 whereas mine was loaded with Sport pkg. Mine definitely had better steering and suspension tuning, but I still found the stripper enjoyable enough. Especially when you compare to the C-class and A4 of the day. The 2nd gen Lexus IS was probably closest in the handling/steering department, and that's a very distant 2nd place.

Different story today given the increased competition and BMW's complacency. Hopefully in a couple months that will no longer be the case!

My dealer said they are offering incredible deals right now as BMW has given them (and probably most dealers) a big target for December. This would be the month to buy.

And... you won't be able to get that car ever again - I totally regret not getting one of the last e90s 335xi (they had a HP bump too).

And yes, the car has come a long way since its intro.

Many are complaining the size of the grills of G20, but I think it is the design language of this generation yet to come — more sporty, more exaggerating and much more similar to each of the brand. Good or bad design? It's a time issue when you get used to the fashion. And you will probably give just opposite answers.

Got to see it person at the show. Have been indifferent about it in photos and in person I will say it definitely presents way better. However the interior for a $50K+ model of the car felt a bit cheap in my opinion. The plastic is very obviously present through out. The doors don't seem to have the kind of weight that indicates quality material in the build. The car overall looks impressive but I'll be opting for the higher quality fixings in the luxury package when I visit the dealer next Spring. Otherwise it gives me the same sense of surroundings as a 30k Ford Fusion, and that's definitely not what I expect from this maker.

New stuff is just bloated, if you like it then like it. I love some of the responses to the negativity on here. Some people make me laugh and as you read you will know who you are SMDH. But don't get butt hurt because many find the new BMW's hideous. So save your pretentious puffery and unnecessary use of of the English language to make your point. If you like it, like it. Others here will mistake your car for a Lexus IS.

That's not my doing, talk to BMW if you dislike the sad truth.

The internet is brilliant at allowing one to pick one's favourite disinformation and perpetuate it in order to suit agenda and minimise cognitive dissonance. Therefore perhaps it isn't this car that's a load of shit (on the basis of NO ONE here having driven it), but, basically, the forum itself?

Such a pretentious lil troll

If the first sentence is true, why would anyone past teenage insecurities care about the second?

It is to clarify that the opinions of both sides will exist. And no one, regardless of reputation "brownie" points, will be able to stop those of differing opinions from posting them. That IS IN FACT, what the whole premise of this forum is. Is it not?

I assume there will be multiple opinions on any given issue. I consider the forum as a place to learn or share information. Varying personal opinions are to be assumed but not of concern if not based on useful information. If any one person likes something, the part of the forum that you correctly point out is inevitable, but of no concern, is whether anyone else also likes it.
