I am not sure about the tails - I want to see them in the flesh, but they look like they wrap way more into the rear quarter panel than traditional tails. It looks like they almost get to the gas tank in some of the pics.

It gives me the impression that they didn't know what to do...so they just stretched the tail lights around the rear quarters...

I actually really like the new 911. But not this.

Impossible to look at this photo and identify it's a BMW. It has virtually no link to BMW dna at all...
No, no, no! I see a definite link. Bumper paint not matching body paint is true to form.

That grill. Before some closeup - well lit pictures over the last few days I was not 100% sure that the top ~2" was non functional in the grill. Why would they do this. And alll that plastic around the edge. Why. Is this the compromise to maintain pedestrian impact safety, and avoid the broken hood line of the previous gen cars? Hate it. Is it really safer to get hit by a car with a metal hood 2 inches higher?

I really like just about everything else on the car but the grill kills it for me. Just the way the broken hood line killed it for me on the F30/F10.

This must be BMW's new Vision but for now these grills are not appealing...the car is beautiful.

Looks like what it is, an updated 3 series, front end is a bit busy with the cuts into the headlights and the grill. Great starting point for next M3

So is my understanding correct that this is the only grill available for the M340? Can't even get the regular grill as an option?

Are BMW trying to mimic Audi with bigger front grills than are really needed? Notice that the top part is actually blanked off! Also going Audi with the one line rear lights!

The rear isn't bad, the front isn't that bad either, other than the grills. This is totally not BMW. The side profile leaves me wanting more, hard to see the body lines in black.

First thing I would do immediately after getting one is get rid of that awful kidney grill and replace it with the MPerformance version.

But you wanna know something? I'm not getting one so I don't need to and I am seriously beginning to have doubts about BMW as a car brand I usually only buy for the future.

We shouldn't be placed in a position to be so motivated to get rid of something so freaking ugly on what's supposed to be our passion and joy to own.

Actually given current marketing trends that's smart on their part and it saves on insurance rates too.
Like I said standard is just a small reduce in the mark up of the feature, there will be no money "saved" through insurance besides a couple of dollars a month. BMW being known for driving thrills shouldn't force bullshit driving aids on you.
wrong but keep digging

And by the way. I said the same thing when the M40i Z4 was unveiled with that same grill. Many of you said you liked it. I'm sorry but on any car that grill is awful.

To me the front is what's wrong but there's plenty right about it. The interior is superb and so like the rear. I just don't like the two black painted pieces that protrude on either side in front and of course the awful grill.

They’d better give an option to have ‘regular’ kidneys instead of that mess.

The grill is ugly. Right up there with the ugly Acura tooth grill of a few years back.

That's a major improvement thanks for doing that. I still think it's too big though and the outline too thick. The angles and proportions of the entire front end are off. It's like a separate designer was tasked with each component without working together. I miss the days when a single designer had a vision for the car and brought it to life. This car looks like a committee pieced it together.

I do like most of the changes on the new 911 though...
