Calipers look like those fake 4 pot looking covers people get off eBay.

From the pics I've seen, the 340 looks like a flat piece of plastic behind the the chromed design elements. Hard to visualize how it would open.
The top 1/3 does not open at all and will always look like that. The bottom 2/3 do open when the engine needs more cooling, you can see the 6 or 7 vertical lines that separate the vertical rectangle slats that open or close depending on what the computer decides is optimal.

Thanks for the pic! That clears it up.
Really not a fan of the grill design...

I have Carbon Black metallic on the X6. It does have a dark blue hint that comes up when the light hits it. Waiting to see the the M340i when it hits the dealers later this year. I love the performance numbers but still not happy about the exterior design. So far the new 3 design looks best in dark colors. Just my humble opinion

Everything looks great except the new pattern used inside the kidney grilles. Still don't know why BMW thought it was a good idea to abandon the iconic vertical slats in favor of these tacky inserts.

Those wheels though.

Lovely car, Ugly grill.
Wish those front seats of these M performance cars could be a little more special though.
Can't wait to see the touring variant.
BTW how come this show car so dirty? XD

The majority of the population won't notice the difference between M performance and M cars. BMW is trying to capitalize on those customers that want an M car but don't want to pay the M premium.

Like the exterior, don't have a problem with the grill, but that interior... maybe I'm just an old man used to my 5 series...

I agree, I think it's the lights in the facility giving it that effect

The rear is okay, but the front is 'orrible. The bumper is busy enough already and the splitter just looks like a budget eBay afterthought.
As for the grilles, they're ridiculous. I saw a G20 M Sport in the metal at my local dealer yesterday and whilst the interior has improved, the front end is a shocker. Pity
When the E60 came out, I swore I'd never buy one ... and I ended up buying one. It was never pretty but it drove well. Maybe it will be the same story with the G20

Ouch...
BMW is really having bad times. I won't talk about mechanics (turbo engines, XDrive...) as this is just how it is today and we'll have to live with it and I must even admit that it has some advantages.

Lets start with the interior: to me, it looks empty, I really appreciate the interior of F series much more. Not talking about that red leather (I really find it ugly), but I think it's more a matter of taste. I feel like not much effort has been put into it: it's just a "purified" F series interior. Also, I prefered the F series sport steering wheel, with the round airbag. BMW always made round wheels which were just fine, and now they try to put a flat bottom... Next generation will be even worse regarding that.

Then, look at the back of the car... Who said Alfa? No... Trust me, there is a BMW badge on it. But to me it looks like the Alfa designer who worked on the back of the Giulia (which is rad, btw), made an internship at Audi for a while and then came to BMW with "ideas". And look at those "integrated" exhaust pipes. No, really, just no. It's supposed to be a sporty daily, not an average diesel car.

Front of the car... Should I even talk about this? That kidney grille looks like a Chinese copy of the nice one Mercedes does. That front end really looks too high and too short. I'm not really sure I'm able to explain it, but it just looks silly. Come on, designers, go back to work.

Side / profile: well. There's not much to say, but to me it looks much more like a Mercedes or even an Alfa than an BMW. Also, that's not a proper 3 series: it looks much more like a 4 Gran Coupé than a proper sedan. Also, who decided that this wheel size / tyre profile combination was OK with that ride height?

I admit that I wasn't really in love with F series, but they were beautiful and desirable cars. This one looks unfinished to me, and definitely not the refined and sporty looking car I expect a BMW to be.

Red calipers mean M Performance part, standard will be the blue M Sport brakes.

I understand the "why". Just saying I don't agree with it. It dilutes the M brand.

It's not much different than people who stick non matching M badges to regular BMW's. The people they are trying to impress can spot a fake instantly, and the people who can't spot the difference don't know what the M is to begin with.

Yes. For the record BMW is copying what Mercedes has done with their fake AMG abominations with a slew of their own abominations.

I am the last guy who criticizes BMW for their new design style etc. But those kidneys are horrible. I really hope the new M4 gets normal kidneys and not those shitty stars and whatever that is. Otherwise I hope that you can take the normal M Performance black kidneys and replace them.

BTW: This steering wheel is awful. And the calipers as well. Brakes look like they are made from plastic.

The super bright (flash?) Lighting in the interior and dash shots really make any car interior look bad imo. I think the negative reactions to the interior pics in this thread may be attributable to this. G20 interior has looked great in other settings.

The 330i m sports that I've seen have a gloss black finish for the plastic at the top of the kidneys and the slats that open and close. The matte plastic inside the grille for the M340i looks especially awkward and cheap...and why leave the insides cerium grey??
