100% agree, i've driven the new Q8, and its impossible to master the climate controls, way too distracting and the haptic feedback isn't very helpful. Their old MMI system was pretty much on par with iDrive in my opinion

i've got the current A4, and came from an F30 and a b8 A4 before that.
To be honest I'm regretting getting another A4. Its a perfectly decent looking car with a nice interior and I didn't want another F30 when I got it about 2.5 years ago. Wanted to try a dual clutch too (it is legitimately great.... the S4 definitely is missing it I'd think) But it could have been almost any near luxury premium car. Its very very competant, but it really has no soul its just really good, but not memorable. Even the f30 after over 4 years, it was exciting. Looking forward to getting a G20 next year, just that weight balance and RWD, for me... its a huge difference. I felt this car's much nicer interior / tech etc was so nice, I got it after the F30, but with the G20 I feel like BMW finally has something that has everything (the F30 interior / tech honestly was pretty terrible compared to merc / audi in 2016). The direction audi is going in is really troubling. All touch screens, and the rumor that the B10 A4 will be based on the FWD platform with a transverse engine... yeah no thanks I've sat in a few G20s already and I think the infotainment is nicer. Having the option of a touch screen is really, and personally I like the more futuristic cockpit over my virtual cockpit. Also the MMI is much much slower than the G20 system which is ridiculously responsive. My car has b&o audio (standard on premium plus A4s) and the BMW has it there too. Friend of mine who also has a '17 a4, with b&o both agree the system is really mediocre for "upgraded". Its probably on par with a base G20 / F30 system (I've tried both these out, the audi b&o on the A4 is just really meh) |

Or a Kia Stinger GT. We’re not Brand snobs right?

Could not agree more "they need to know their place" as they are not in the same realm. Hyundia tried to compete with the 7 series and S class and ask them how well that went....... a car that lost 60% of its value day one.

The Kia Stinger was designed under the direction of the former head of BMW M division Albert Biermann. If you really think the Kia stinger nowhere near the 3 series you are in for a very rude awakening. Sure, it’s can use improvement in some areas, but it truly is a proper drivers car and deserves consideration. |

Having test driven one, I'd also say before an Audi A4. A brand is a badge...product makes the brand...sometimes for better, sometimes for worse, as everyone here knows from recent history.

The service tech was just nodding his head saying "I know what you mean, that's as it is, and most people don't notice it, but those coming from sportier brands notice it, particularly when the engine is still cold." He basically confirmed it's a diesel emissions thing done on purpose. Seems their engines are simply not up to par to the mandated limits, so they have to do these kinds of reductions in engine power to keep emissions under control. |

As to safety, My opinion is that all three of the German brands are pretty much similar. They all have the same regulatory body and testing regimes. If I lived in a place where deer strikes were a reasonable probability, I'd look very carefully at Volvo. They specifically design for a "moose strike" test. As to driving dynamics, I don't like Audi because of the front weight bias as a legacy of their FWD history. Yes, electronics can make up for a lot of this, just as the 911's electronics can make up for the rear weight bias--but Porsche can put big rubber on the rear where Audi cannot do this on the front. I think this is why the electronics in an Audi cannot fully compensate for the weight bias in "normal" driving where the electronics aren't kicking in.
But, I'm a reservation holder for the new Audi e-Tron EV. No weight bias problem and when I cross shop it to the upcoming BMW equivalent, the iX3, I'm expecting a better interior. We already know what the exteriors look like and I prefer the e-Tron. Now, if the iX3 is $10K less, or has an attractive lease deal (we can be reasonably certain that the Audi lease deal won't be competitive, based on recent history), I'll reconsider. Both the e-Tron and the iX3 (and the upcoming i4) are based on current CE platforms will be transition cars leading to Audi's e-Tron GT and BMW's i-Next, so leasing is a more attractive prospect given the timing of my current leasing expiration dates. |

A very large leap of faith in electrical engineering competence for a company we observed couldn't make our 2016 A6 radio, comfort access door handle, or ATC system function correctly or transmission shift properly and then was not honest with us about brake rotor warpage. Either way, good luck. I'll never step foot in VW/Audi showrooms again.

This. I've owned several Audi's and bimmers. The bimmers are always much more enjoyable to pilot while the Audi's are nicer to look at and sit in.

That was the past. The current A4 has a disgusting interior with a cheap looking fake HVAC vent running across the entire dashboard. The G20 has a much more upscale, modern and coherent interior design. Aside from the awful Live Cockpit, BMW nailed it on the G20 interior.

My '16 340 lease expired Feb. 28, so I went looking for a replacement a few months ago. I had to try three S5s to try the options I wanted, and I kept looking for this wonderful Audi interior and quality car; it wasn't a bad car, but did not drive as well as my 340. I have a toy car that will be daily driver for a few months, then I will look at the G20 340 and the Genesis G70. Sorry Audi, I just don't get what you're trying to say.

You're going from a 6 series to an A4? lol.. And yes you will, the 6 series is leasing very well right now.

Actually, the final straw was the lack of integrity with which they handled the brake problem, the denial of warranty on a very new car, and then the tech telling me he was told to alter the repair order findings. They have simply lost the last drop of trust/faith I might have maintained if the only problems were just quality. Everyone can have quality problems, but not everyone handles it like Audi did. For the sake of the cost of a set of rotors and what the tech told me, I am "Never again Audi/VW". Buyer beware!
