What’s included in the 2k incentives? What is the $500 rebate for?

Lease credit and fleet discount. If your a bmwcca member you get a rebate. You apply for it separately and your membership has to be active for at lease 6 months

2020 M340i RWD

MSRP $62450
Only discounted $6%
I qualify for $2750 in incentives (loyalty / college grad) plus dealer said they offer $750 extra

MF is .00122
Residual woth 12k is 57%

They have it at $690/month without tax
Once you add CA tax into it - that will be about $750
Per month.

Seems high to me.

Are the incentives as good on 2021s and since the residuals are higher - I wonder if the lease deals are better on 2020 or 2021. I would think my best bet would be to negotiate for a much larger discount off the selling price like 10% or more?

Anyone care to chime in on what they think a good deal on this car would be?

The incentives we qualify for were $2000 loyalty and $1000 college grad (wife went to school
Later In life and graduated a year and a half ago) WE also qualify fir USAA and conquest but he said those don't stack on the others

I would think they will discount the car at least 10%?? More?

* I had originally been looking at used F80's. I started looking at leases on the M340 I thinking I could find something closer to hi5 hundreds or 600 a month. if I finance an M3 I am looking at 750 to 850 a month for the one I want assuming no money down and buying an extended warranty

If I could pick up a lease on an M340 I closer to 600 bucks a month I think I'd rather pocket the savings and have a brand new car. But if leases on these things are going to be 750+ forget it

My quick take:

-You should target 9-10% off, *before* applying any incentives. That being said, with inventory still tight, you might have a harder time getting that discount on in-stock units.
-Your MF is *WAY* marked up, assuming you have top tier credit. Base MF for October is .00082
-Loyalty and conquest cannot stack together. However, USAA can stack with loyalty, BUT USAA program is being phased out. If you don't already have the USAA coupon code, you might be SOL on that.
-Incentives are actually $1500 lease cash (for everyone) and $500 loyalty. There is an additional $500 if you currently are in a BMW lease.

I have top tier credit
I currently own a BMW not a lease. The dealer implied the loyalty credit applied to anyone that currently owned a BMW - purchased or leased.

When I commented that the money factor seemed marked up he said that if they discounted the money factor back down to the lower rate they would take away the price discount of 6% or reduce it. I told the fella that it would require them to bring the money factor down and increase the discount up to 10% at least. He gave me a song and dance about how these cars are in such demand and in short supply that that will never happen and I told him to get back to me tomorrow after I talk to a supervisor but that's what it would take.

The current numbers they've given me put the payment at almost 750 a month. I think at that price point I'd rather spend a little bit more and just purchase a really nice low mileage used M3.

I really think the M340i is a nice car I had one as a loaner and I loved.. It would make an excellent daily driver but I'm also one of those people that is modified all the cars I have ever owned and the last time I test drove an M for competition I felt like it was my number one choice. The M340i is a compromise and if it's not quite a bit cheaper it's not worth it .

Sounds like this isn't the dealer to be working with. There are dealers who make money selling volume: more cars with thinner margins. And there are dealers who make money pushing for fat margins: fewer cars with less discounts. This might be one of the second type.

That being said, he is right about inventory still being tight right now. Hence why ordering, through a broker, is actually a decent option right now. Regardless, a 6% pre-incentive discount with a marked up MF is a terrible deal.

You need to shop around. You aren't going to walk into one dealer, sit down, and get a great deal the first time around. Honestly, you shouldn't even be setting foot in the dealer until you have all the numbers worked out. You also might need to shop around outside of your region. I don't know if Norcal or Socal has better discounts, but I seem to recall one being dramatically better than the other.

If you can get 9% off, pre-incentive, with base MF, and assuming you qualify for $2750 in rebates, you can be at $587 pre-tax, plus inception fees due at signing (DMV, acquisition fee, doc fees). I don't know what your tax rate is, so I can't give you the with tax number.

With regards to what I said about loyalty, there are two different loyalty incentives, which can stack. $500 is for straight BMW loyalty, which you are eligible for; there is an additional $500 'lease to lease' cash, available if you currently lease a BMW, which you are not eligible for.

Edit: forgot to add that, if you add MSDs, your monthly will drop to $556 in the example above.

Indeed, find another dealer or just use a broker, now isn't the time to throw money away.

That's an insane deal - I'm working with a dealer now and I'm not getting anywhere near that monthly. What did you put down on the car - anything?

Taxes and fees which was around 4k... I would look into a broker, I had a 2020 order cancel on me and I didn't have time to hunt down a dealer willing to give 9-11% on a order

I found a dealer who quoted me 10% off a 2020 but no one willing to do that much off for a 2021

In the north east there's a few broker offering 9-11% off 2021s not sure if it's exclusive to in lot cars but most dealers here don't have 2021 3 series in the lots

Just signed. I leveraged my dealer with quotes from brokers (which were real) offering 10% off on custom builds to secure the same from them. Initial offer was at 6% and another local dealer wouldn't budge from 5%. $66,920 MSRP. 10% discount plus incentives on a 36/10 lease. Full MSDs takes it down to $616 a month including taxes. No money down.

Now the hard part begins.

Do you guys think it's realistic to get 20% off a 2020 model that's on the dealer's lot?

My local dealer has a 2020 that has an MSRP of about 62500. They originally quoted me only 6% off but I've found dealers in the Los Angeles area which is not too far from me and they're offering 10% off the 2020s.. those dealers just don't have a car and the colors and options that I want.

You wouldn't even get 20% off a loaner that's extremely unrealistic. Pre covid 10-12% was norm. Now that inventory is super tight on the 2020s 10% is the highest I've seen you can probably squeeze 11% of the dealer is desperate to get rid of the car. From a leasing perspective the incentives are better for the 2021 tho

Whoops... what a massive typo!

I meant 10%!

Most of the dealers in my immediate area are capping their discount at 6%. I am wondering if 10% off on either a 2020 or 2021 is realistic across most dealers? I found one delete who would do 10% but it was a highly optioned 2020.. I can see where the super highly option cars that are pushing almost 70,000 are harder to move... I'm wondering if that discount is more realistic on the lower cost models that are in the high 50s low 60s which are much more prevalent at dealerships

Lol typos getting the best of us. There aren't many 2020s out there and if your looking for a specific spec if the dealer knows they are one of the few dealerships that have that spec they will play hardball with the pre incentive discount. Not sure if it still true but most 2021 models arriving at dealerships are mostly orders. If you have 11-13 weeks to wait I would order the car honestly. It crazy how I was getting a better deal on order vs one in the lot and my build was more expensive

A little late to the party on this thread but I think I posted on another thread back in March when I got the car:

2020 M340 AWD
Twin Cities MN
$61k
12/36
$0 down
$0 MSD's
9.5% discount before incentives
$4500 incentives
$593/month all in
About $580 all in if factoring in BMW CCA. Bought this before they changed their policy (and got check in the mail within 10 days!)

Would be hard pressed to find a better deal than this in my region at the time

That sounds like a good deal how do you pay the sales tax is it an upfront lump sum or our taxes rolled in on a monthly basis on the depreciation? Here in California we only pay sales tax on the depreciation aspect of the car on a monthly basis over the life of the lease.

I think in MN it's paid all up front, I could be mistaken. But since I traded in a vehicle I do believe I got a tax break/credit. I'd need to look at the numbers again but I am happy w the purchase. Almost over 5.5k miles and couldn't be more pleased

Was this a local dealer here in the Twin Cities? I've had zero luck getting anywhere close from anyone and ended up ordering mine in Chicago. The deal I got with October incentives:
10% discount before incentives
$3000 incentives
$67k MSRP
10/36
$704/month all in

At this rate the car will be delivered in December, so I am holding out for better December terms.

Got it from park place motors in Rochester. Granted mine was prior to covid and at end of month and close to end of 2019 so that could have been partially why.

Motorwerks and Minnetonka BMW's pricing was a joke and weren't willing to budge at all.

If you're interested in my contact I'd be happy to give it to you! I've sent a few guys there from this forum actually

If you're interested in my contact I'd be happy to give it to you! I've sent a few guys there from this forum actually
Ah I was wondering if they might be more willing to deal than Motorwerks and Minnetonka BMW, I test drove the m340i at Minnetonka (that was a mistake, I fell in love:P ) and the first proposal they gave me on one made me just laugh (Marked up MF, 2% discount, how nice to a returning customer (my 540i is leased from Minnetonka, and I got an OK deal on it for a November 30th deal 3 years ago) )

In about 3 years that contact will be good, for this one its a road trip to Chicago to get mine. (now can it be done at the factory yet?)
