4 Series Forum
I think we should have separated 4 series forum. Today G20 and G22/3/6 are too different. They look and drive different.

I tend to agree. Im trying to understand what is normal on a 3 vs a 4 for maintenance repairs etc.
Im in the market to buy and the threads about option deletes on the M340 are really interesting. Im not sure if that is also true on the 440i. |

I agree. Id like 4 series separate forum. Looking for information on 4 series is a nightmare here right now.

Well, how about we just adopt this thread as the Unofficial 4 Series Forum? Just capitalize the “S” and the “F” in the title field and we’re all set. I’ll start with some 4 Series content: Got my G26 last week and added painted reflectors and M logos. I also think the 860M wheels are spectacular. I’m also thrilled with the handling and luxury that my F36’s and F33 never came close to. |

Thats actually interesting because the 4 has outsold the 3 this year 25,762 to 14,416. I think thats mostly due to the electric version though? I certainly see more 4GC in my area now than 3's.

The 3 and 4 series share the same chassis and most parts. They are literally developed together with just slightly different designs and layouts to appeal to different buyers.
Personally I like having them together because if someone shared about their experience with a 4 series that will be applicable to my 3 series in almost every way unless we’re talking pure cosmetics. |

There’s already too Many forums, especially when so many things are shared across the platform now.
Take idrive/media sub forums for example: almost every G series car uses one of 3 headunits and everything is the same , you see the same threads asking for help across multiple ones |

I’ve had my 4GC for less than a week and I’ve already been stopped and asked questions or randomly complimented 5 times. It’s very cool. Combination of the low/wide design, Brooklyn Grey color, and the Shadowline package is really fresh and rather unique compared to other BMW’s and luxury cars. I definitely like it this way!

Myself when first deciding on ordering a G26 as an example, I was reading how the Adaptive M Suspension was no longer available and how BMW removed interior Ambient Lighting and it turns out those are/were 3 Series problems, not applicable to the 4 Series. Took me way too long to figure that out, and would never have even entered my mind if the two series weren’t pushed together. |

Some things a 30i doesn’t have any more, but the 40x do etc. same goes across regions where things are different too. The g2x are all the same base platform. In the problem you raise, I’d direct you to the BMW configuration tool as that will be a lot more accurate than forum heresay |

These are obscure spec issues that change for different regions. Hardly a reason for a new forum. |

The Adaptive M Suspension is not obscure. On an M Sport, it is critical. A complete dealbreaker if unavailable. |

I also don't think there should be two forums. What I have always thought would be better, is that when you are creating a post, the form we all type in to create our posts should have a drop down field with models as the choices that you have to choose from. The "submit post" button doesn't become active unless you choose a model from the drop down. (And of course there would be an N/A option to choose if it was a post about something non-model specific or a general question). Doing it that way would allow searches by users where they can choose posts that apply to their model only, while still keeping us all together.
I always thought I should ask the powers that be to do something like that, but I have no clue how to make a feature request to the site owners. It's like 1/2 of a second of time to choose a drop down, so it doesn't add any friction to user engagement (engagement being the lifeblood/revenue of any website) while making the forum a better tool for the end users. |
