The result I expected, but it's sad (not sad) to see the all new C43 only edging out the 6-7 year old S5 platform/engine that's also down 50+hp on paper. I suspect there's going to be quite a few of these sitting on dealer lots in the coming months.

They are sitting here in Canada as well (most likely because all the incoming models they have optioned/priced at well over $100k!!). WAAAAY too expensive for the "mid-tier" sports sedan in this segment.

Glad I went with BMW again. Compared to the M340i, the C43 sounds worse, is slower, gets less MPG, and costs more. Awesome…

I have a 2019 W205 LCI C43 with AMG PE and its a great car. Fun..fast..but the AMG PE makes it special.

What they were thinking with this W206 C43?

Test drove it...wanted to like it. Just could not. No low end tourque...no AMG PE...and sloooowwww.

So I went back to BMW.

I have a 2024 G26 M440i X-Drive on a boat in transit.

Hopefully here in mid-September!

I think a lot of W205 C43 drivers are heading to BMW showrooms.

Mercedes and AMG has lost the edge. Once special, now an overused and diluted brand. There are over 30 AMG models now. Most of them with these silly 4 pots and dyson exhaust. Overpriced, heavy and underperforming. Not to mention the 48V issues that plagued so many models and caused buy backs.

It's no wonder people are flocking to M cars.

This. BMW managed to do it without compromising MPG or engine engagement. Mercedes completely blew it on their overboosted 4-cyl setups.

I expected more from C43. It has very good numbers on paper, but appears to be such a disappointment.

Who needs a 4 cylinder when I can push the B58 hard on a regular basis and still average 27mpg?

Lol I wonder what the purpose of the regulation is when the end result doesn’t really meet the requirement.

It’s likely more emission regulations than MPG regulations.

You need to have trip analytics or something like that enabled both in car and in the app, by default its turned off.

Automakers know what the EPA and European test cycles are for MPG ratings. It's possible that the car will pass that specific test; however, those test cycles don't reflect the way many drive their cars in the real world.

Gone are the days when BMW had competition...
BMW is objectively is at its golden age right now, in 2023.

Regulations are built around emissions, not number of cylinders.

Seems like that, at least if we speak about performance. Only car i can think of that is better compared to BMW offer might be RS3, since M2 does not have Xdrive and is bit heavy and 240ix cant really compare.

These are intriguing compared to the M340i, if only for the slicker interior and a change of pace from my last four BMWs. If I could get over the mediocre fuel economy and the lease rate was attractive, I'd bite. The C43 feels more like a luxurious WRX than a mini E-class, and there is some charm in that.
