Hi all I have HUD which is nice but seems basic, I like how phone calls come through and I also like how you can scroll through media sources, I have apple carplay which is obviously an option but it never loads, it only ever says please wait, which is useless.. any ideas?

Is there a way to turn off auto stop start? Without engaging sport mode?

How do you stop the car shifting up gears in manual sport mode? It gets nowhere near the redline - although it’s a hybrid diesel I expected a bit more control over the gear shifts…

Loving the car but these things are niggling me!

I’ve never found the stop start to be obtrusive : I think they’ve done a very good job of making it a near silent background task. Personal preference of course,

Apple car play : mine works 99% of the time : the odd gremlin of course. Are you connecting over WiFi ? (Need Bluetooth and WiFi on) …
I have 2 phones connected (work and private) and switch between them - this can confuse it on occasions.

If you use paddle shifters, does it put into manual mode ?

Only had mine for 2 weeks and covered about 900 miles. The HUD is great as is the active cruise control. Never wanted to use manual shift in this nor my previous F31. Love the self park thing that it does. Seats in the F31 were much more comfortable than this G21. My Android just connects every time I get into the car.
Stop/start was disabled in my F31 with Bimmercode. The new car is a mild hybrid with the extra lithium battery under the bonnet and the stop/start is hardly noticeable so I'll leave it.

You can use BimmerCode to set it so it always starts up in Sport Individual (with Auto start stop off), but have the Sport individual mode options all set to Comfort mode. Gives you the equivalent of Comfort, but with ASS off.

HUD is more restricted with car play. I use idrive as oppose to car play and I've never thought it was basic.

Only obvious way if you dont have the button is to code it out or use the sports individual setting so you can leave the steering/ gearbox/ suspension in comfort but engine in sport which would turn off start stop.

How do you get the self parking thing to work ? I have it , just cannot get it to actually park..

Thanks for all the replies, I’m considering getting BimmerCode and a lead to carry out some minor coding.

I do connect to CarPlay via WiFi, I’ve tried with a cable too and the HUD still says please wait.. strange?

I changed my sport individual the other day and this has helped, I just don’t like the hesitation at roundabouts etc

I haven’t successfully managed to auto park yet either lol

What lead? I have bimmercode and bimmerlink and they just connect my phone to the OBD via bluetooth.

If you don't already have an OBD adapter then an ENET cable is the cheaper (and faster) option.

Yep I have full functionality on the infotainment screen, steering wheel controls all work, just the heads up constantly says please wait. It’s never actually displayed anything from iTunes music

New issue, windows have stopped working from drivers side control panel, mirrors no longer fold or auto dim. A quick search reveals this is a common issue with the G20. Does anyone have any experience with this? The car came with a 3 month warranty which I’m well within. I just want to make sure it’s resolved correctly…

No direct experience as my car 8 Series but aware of G20 problems with water ingress of the mirror electronic module in the mirror housing which takes out the window operation. Given time to dry out operation comes back. Replacement of module required but bad design to have an electronic module in that environment prone to water ingress.

Makes sense as it happened quite soon after being washed, it has 3 month warranty but want to make sure they replace the module not carry out a shoddy repair as car was bought from a 2nd hand dealership not bmw dealer
