iDrive 7 update 07/2021 available now

Just got July 2021 update for my 330e here in Australia. Seems like they pushed this one way faster than usual.

No new features I can see however I feel like the car charges faster and electric range seems a lot more accurate.

In software development it is accepted that the best way to avoid new bugs in an update is to not introduce new features

Just wondering if anyone with a 2019 G20 has received the 07/2021.Xx update OTA yet?
My VIN has always been one of the first but still nothing. Wouldn't surprise me if this is the point where they say "we no longer support the hardware in 2019 g20"

I have a 2018 G20 and haven't got it, but not worried about it. They won't drop support while under warranty. I'd be worried once iDrive 8 comes out though.

Is BMW Australia going to wait till July 2022 to push 07/21 update?

Howdy All,

Hope all is well on this fine Saturday.

I too got the notification via the My BMW app yesterday.

Downloaded to my phone in a matter of seconds, started uploading to the car then got a message saying it had paused and would restart when phone connected again which was odd as it was still connected.

Every time I start the engine and drive I am now getting this message which I don't recall last time I did this.

I have fully charged the battery overnight (even though I seem to recall it was in the final stage of the update that I needed to charge the battery last time)

So I am stuck at 11% upload.

Oh well its not the end of the world I'll just keep phone connected and see what happens

Good Luck everyone else and happy motoring over the weekend.

Cheers

In case this helps anyone.

As mentioned above I was stuck at 11%, I deleted my phone from the list of devices and reinstalled it (Bluetooth and wireless) up load recommenced immediately engine was started and car is now doing upgrade.

I can't guarantee this will fix anyone else's issues but it fixed mine.

I still suggest if you have a battery charger make sure your battery is full charged before starting.

Cheers

I got the update notification and no problems to update car.

All my coding gone, so I have to fix that up again

I downloaded and installed 07/2021.85 yesterday and was amazed how much battery power was needed to achieve this, and to reload my BimmerCode modifications.

I have a CTEK battery monitor and started the download with 67%. This was not enough to install the update.
I had to charge the battery for the installation to take place. I was notified that the installation could proceed at 85% battery charge.

Having installed the BMW update, I then made my BimmerCode modifications.

I was amazed to find that the battery charge level had dropped to 27% after both modifications were completed.
The car started without issues and I put the battery on charge overnight.

85% to 27% is a big drop assuming you weren't doing anything crazy. Maybe an issue with your battery?

I had the same issue with minimum charge though, I also have the battery sense module and had pretty much the same situation as you.

Do you use the stop/start function routinely or coded off?

My battery level has been ok since I've coded the stop/start memory on and always has it off. The last two updates downloaded and installed without problem. I only plug my car up to the ctek every couple of months or so. I do pretty much drive it daily now that we are no longer locked down.

I think the issue was that it took a long time to re-code the functions through BimmerCode. Also, I was doing this in the garage and kept forgetting to switch off the headlights. I’m sure the headlights would have put a drain on the battery considering the length of time it took me to re-code.
I don’t think there is a problem with the battery as the car started immediately with only a 27% charge.

I keep the stop/start function active (as I did with my 335 which I kept for 7 years on the original battery).
I don’t drive my car daily as I mainly use it for long drives. We use the other two cars for all the short stuff.
The car does so many checks when parked that the battery charge reduces considerably if the car is left un-driven for a few days. Bit annoying if you ask me.
Like you, I only check the battery condition with the CTEK monitor once every month or two, but it’s quite a handy little piece of kit.

When I did the upgrade, my Apple Carplay screen colour changed to a pure white. Is there anyway to change the colour?
