I called my dealer yesterday. I was informed that my car is at the port (My Garage is still showing "Ready to Transport'). He said it could take another 4 weeks to get to the dealership. I honestly think that he was being conservative with the delivery date and does not want to disappoint a customer due to unexpected delays.

So far my experience with the ordering/delivery process has been good.
You're starting to catch on. Buckle up and be prepared for delays.

My dealer told me it’s taken them on average about 10-12 weeks to get cars they order, so that’s what I should expect. After reading through this post, however, I’m preparing myself for disappointment.

I think your dealer is spot on - definitely not blowing smokes. My dealer gave me the same time frame when I placed my order back in Mid-December. I really think that 10-12 weeks in the east cost is possible. Midwest may be couple weeks longer.

I hope you have better luck than me.
I ordered mine the first part of September. I STILL do not have it. Been sitting in Brunswick for over a damn month and no one can tell me when I am going to get it......
OMG. September?! That is awful and torture! And disheartening as well.

This is my first BMW, its kind of been a dream of mine since I was a kid and rode in my Grandmothers 3 series. This is also the first vehicle I've ever custom ordered exactly how I want it without settling for something that a dealer had on the lot. I guess I can thank the supply chain and chip shortages for that, because I might have settled again if the dealers had a M340i on the lot.

Those like us, who have been waiting 23+ weeks, get a real chuckle out of your post. We will all be happy for you if you get your car in 10-12 weeks, but that's not been a typical time frame for most of us.

Car will be San Remo green with a cognac interior. I checked most every box on this one: premium package; drivers assistance pro package; dynamic handling package; parking assist package; adaptive suspension; HK sound; adaptive headlights; live cockpit pro; and remote engine start. I'll be curious to see if any of these don't make the final cut. So far, the order sheet only showed deletion of the passenger lumbar option.

I've seen some folks say you can check your options based on the VIN, but when I use the online VIN decoder sites, it pulls up a 2002 318i. My understanding is this is because BMW has begun to recycle certain parts of the VIN. Are there any sites that can accurately read the new VINs?

I'll keep folks posted as the order updates. Thanks and best wishes!

Nice choices on color selections.....mine took 12 weeks from order to Performance Center delivery in October.....car gets a lot of admiring comments....

Timeline:
-Ordered 10/15
-Production 11/24
-Arrived at Baltimore port 12/17
-Stop Sale/Work Orders opened 12/18

Now this is frustrating....

I have an M440CV on order that was built on 12/17 and it's still sitting at the factory on "awaiting carrier assignment" for over a month. It's a standard color with fewer option than yours and no options that you don't have.

What the heck is the deal with BMW? Why are some cars getting passed over while others sail through?

The car I've reserved shows a production date of 11/4. It's an M340i with the Aventurin Red color. This vehicle isn't through by any means, but it's already sitting at the destination port as of 1/23. That seems pretty quick from Germany production to the US.

I am starting to think cars get built in San Luis Potosi, Mexico plant have better delivery time frame than those came from Germany. Today is week #6 since my order. It is already at the port. I hope the rest of the trip will be smooth.

Thanks! This will be the first car my wife and I have ever ordered exactly as we wanted it (versus settling for the closest thing on the lot). And I have to confess that we saw your pictures while we were trying to decide on whether to go with San Remo. It looked a little off on BMW's car builder site, but seeing your pictures confirmed that it was definitely the color we wanted. So many thanks for sharing!!!

I'm sorry to hear that things are held up on your end. I'd certainly tell you if I knew why ours transitioned smoothly from "awaiting carrier assignment" to "dispatched from the factory" (and it updated to "at the port" last night). Unfortunately, I haven't a clue.

I'm wondering if somehow yours, being an earlier build, got caught up in a shortage or recall that was resolved by the time mine hit the assembly line? And maybe their trying to get yours worked out after the fact has delayed things? Total guesswork on my end, though, so take it with a grain of salt.

I hope things start moving for you soon! And let's also hope that we don't both end up stuck "at the port" for weeks on end as others have experienced...
