Window tint - 25 or 35%?
Just picked up my black M340i and will be getting tint. I’ve always gone with 35% tint on my previous vehicles as that is the state limit. However, at times I’ve wanted it just a little darker.
Does anyone have photos of 25% tint on their 3 series? For those who have 25%, do you feel like the visibility is alright at night, or is 35% the way to go? |

With my 330i, I used the same film as my previous car and had the same percentage, so it was very odd that it was much lighter. Perhaps the dealer used the wrong film. I hated it and ended up getting 35 on the windshield and it not only looks better, but seems much darker than my sides... Anyways, 25 is the minimum way to go for the sides, but I also highly recommend getting a windshield tint for the purpose of blocking out heat. My side clarity is pretty terrible/hazy as I, regrettably, used Solargard. I ended up going with Xpel for the windshield and clarity is amazing with no visibility issues. I have more pics on my IG @T3eye |

I have 20% on my m340i, also black. i honestly wish i went darker but that might be because I have the oyster interior. No issues with visibility at night

Depends on how much your local Police Department cares. Getting pulled over for dark tint is an easy excuse to nail you for other things as well.
In my state, you can be fined up to $1000 so not worth the risk for me personally buy YMMV |

Here's a link to state laws, in case you need it.
https://windowtintlaws.us I have 25% (or 20% - I don't remember which I finally went with) on front sides, rear sides and rear windshield. Lower than 18-20% starts to look just black - and I don't care for that look even though my local law enforcement doesn't seem to care how dark it is. No perceived night time visibility issues at 25%. The bottom two pics in this post were after tinting. https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1913758 I am also considering 70% ceramic for the front windshield, just for heat protection, but I am leery about anything that could mess with my forward visibility.
