Hi all,

So, my car came installed with the Bridgestone Turanza RFTs. 225/19 front and 255/19 rear. (Is this the stock tire that comes with the 19" 792M style rims?) I took her in for her first service, and the dealer recommends that I get them replaced because my tires are worn, especially my rear ones since my car is RWD. I do not understand how as I've only driven 12k miles on a brand new car. I have not drifted or done any donuts. Also, I'm in Georgia, and the majority of my travel by car is on good, smooth, new-like highway roads in clear weather. Absolutely ridiculous!

I opted in for the BMW Wheel and Tire Package warranty when I purchased my car. Does anyone have any experience with this and how I can use it, because it was $2k, and I intend to use it.

I also want to switch to Michelin Pilot Sport 4S non-RFT if anyone has any experience or thoughts on that.

Excuse the dirtiness of Bella. She's due for a proper detail. The ceramic coating needs some love, and she's due for some mods.

Thank you

12k out of the rears? Very nice. A lot of people get only 7-8k. A tire warranty won't help you with normal wear.

Wow, that's ridiculous! Thanks for the reply. How about the Michelin PS4S? Same thing? I'm going to get non-runflat for sure.

Bang your car off of some curbs, or run over some nails- then you'll get to use it.

I'm joking obviously- but think of it as an insurance.
Happy when you need to use it, but hope you don't have to.
It's like getting home owners insurance and saying "I paid for it so I'm going to use it"

Just to reinforce that this was a joke, most tire warranties only cover the tires down to the wear bars (some less)

I had the tire insurance on my 2015 2 series, made good use of it, but hated the RFT tires. I told myself I'm never opting for those things and not buying tire insurance again. Ordering non-rft's on my new 3 series next year.

Thats why I went with 18"s w/ go flat tires and square set up.

At 12K my tires are not even close to 30% wear and have been rotated every 5K miles.

Best option I checked for a daily driver that is a lease

I've had the wheel + tire package on the F10 I turned in in Dec, and on the G20 I picked up in Jan. I was told by the dealers that the only way to get a new tire out of that is if there was unexpected (e.g., outside of normal wear and tear) and irreparable (e.g.., screw in the sidewall) damage to the tire, with about 20% life remaining on it. I don't think you can file a claim if the tire is pretty close to being fully worn out either. So...if it just so happened that you magically got a screw in the sidewall with about 20% or so tread remaining, you get a replacement tire (of the same type).

In hindsight, now knowing how rough the RFTs are, I wouldn't have purchased the wheel + tire package. I would have driven them down to about 30%, taken both the wheels and tires off as a unit, rocked aftermarket wheels w/PS4s, and then thrown the old set up back on a month before lease-end.

There are several options of stock tires it depends on how the dealership specified the build from the factory. You can get 18" or 19", All seasons run flats or Summer Performance Non-Runflat from the factory. The staggered configuration(Factory code: 1PW) with 19" 792M wheels with stagger configuration Bridgestone Turanza All Season RFTs are stock from the liks below.

Build sheet found here:
https://www.bimmerpost.com/goodiesfo...ing_Guides.pdf

Stock Tire configurations from factory found here:
https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=36_2484

With that in mind, swapping/replacing all with to the Summer Performance tires: Michelin Pilot Sport 4S non-RFT, also a factory configuration (Factory Code: 1PV), should be no problem. This is best overall summer performance tire as it is quieter ride and handles really well in cornering in dry and wet conditions. Side walls are re-enforced. Definitely can't go wrong. In addition, I would opt in to purchase a portable air compressor that plugs into 12V outlet for the vehicle in case of emergencies.

12k miles is almost 20k kilometers. It is normal for RWD 380HP car. No worries. If want more miles take Michelin PS 4s. But sport tires wear more (because they are soft and better hold the road).
