As i had said earlier.... this is Porsche 996 of BMW, i.e. forever photographed from the back!! We got to see the back of the car and the stoner kid's face more than the front of the car...

Clearly the rear of the car is "front and center" in this strange satirical commercial.
This is BMW marketing admitting the front end design is not what they had hoped it would be.

totally that. The kids face is just about as goofy looking as the G22's face. (I think his stupid facial expression during drifts was just as disturbing).

The sad part is that you're probably right.
We've known this for a while, but the company has shifted its respective priorities from catering to loyal enthusiasts to trying to appeal to the masses. As evidenced by things like FWD instead of RWD, torque converters instead of DCT, ever increasing size / weight / dependence on technology, etc...

I still feel nothing for this car. But I'm past being deeply disappointed, just waiting for the next 4 series.

Nice to see that BMW is embracing steering as a trademark again. This is great news for enthusiasts whatever you think of the steering today.

I suppose it depends on what kind of company you want to be, and what the long term play / goals are.
For example, it seems like these sorts of changes and controversial design elements are causing loyal customers to either leave the brand (I just turned in my F80 for a Porsche) or consider other options before re-upping with another BMW. Between my first 328i and the F80, I really didn't look elsewhere (besides a different Porsche in there) when it was time for a new car or when my lease happened to be up. Compare that to now, where the brand doesn't have anything outside of the M2 that I would be interested in owning. So they've lost a very loyal customer (6 straight BMWs) because of the overall direction. There are other folks on here who have been even more loyal, and for longer periods of time, who are also looking elsewhere or actually leaving. Can you lease enough one time customers, who simply want the cheapest payment amongst the "luxury" brands, to offset those that used to come back over and over, without even bothering to look elsewhere? I think that tells you a lot about what the company is trying to be....who wants another German Toyota? We've already got VW on that front... The M2 / M2C / M2CS all seem to prove the company can still be good...but those options are shrinking more and more over time. Just my $.02.

This commercial tells me everything I need to know about the brand and the identity it wants moving forward.
Only reaffirms that when I'm done w my m3cs, that'll be my last bmw for prolly a long long time.

I’m not sure why all the hate. This commercial is perfect. It shows that BMW now makes cars primarily for people who are incompetent at driving, and have little to no appreciation for it.
Someone should do a gag commercial where the front end gets pixelated/blurred anytime it gets showed on the commercial. |
