2021 M340i maxed out @ 130 mph

Hello , so I was going fast and as I’m going I feel like a thirst I look down and my gauge says 130 mph and doesn’t want to go anymore. Obviously there has to be a limiter or something but anyone else have a problem ?

IF your car came with staggered set up and Summer tires you get 155...if you have square set up you are screwed into 130...I believe dealers can change but you have to have that setup.

You can look that up on here...tons of threads. They won't do it unless you have staggered set up with Summer tires. They still may not do it. It is programmed from the factory.

The only way I know to do it is with a flash tune but that obviously comes with power gains as well. If you are only looking to get rid of the speed limiter you might want to call Alex at Mission Performance...they are in Rancho Cucamonga (not too far from you) he may be able to do a one off for you?

Didn't know the m340 came with this setup thought it was only m sport trim so no all season square setup, thought that was 330 only.

Unless you're at the track, 130 is more than fast enough.......(and if you're Tiger Woods, 87mph...)

I asked my dealer about that and instead of saying "no, we won't do that" or "no, the software is hardcoded and can't be overwritten" or literally any other actually knowledgeable and believable statement, the guy said "It's a state law to limit cars to 130 and it would break the law to remove that limiter." LOL.

So that guy was obviously talking out his tailpipe but I didn't want to argue with him. Chances are that if you found the right dealer, you might find one who can/will fix it for you but it's not likely.

It's frustrating since someone could by a car with high performance wheels/tires, and keep that OEM set of wheels for the track or some other special occasion and buy a second set of square all seasons for commuting or road trips and nobody would go change his limiter to 130.

AFAIK the higher speed limit on an M340i requires the high performance tire and cooling package, which is more than just different tires. However, maybe I’m confused.
