M340i first service at 17k? Is that right
Looking at a 2020 M340i. The main dealer has said that it’s just had its first service at 17k miles with them. Appreciate it’s normally 2 years or condition based, but what’s the mileage requirement?
I’ve asked if the service has a green OK or an amber OK in the service history. They didn’t cover that in their response so I’ll have to go back again to ask. However thought I’d ask on here. |

I'm on about 11k and the service is in about 7k miles. App says it's an oil service which I'm more than OK with. TBH happy to do an annual oil service rather than time based one.
Not sure I'll be going to a dealer though, as got a brilliant ex master tech indy 3 miles from me who has always looked after my BMs.

Seems about right to me too, mine's just passed 5k miles and is showing 15k to next (oil) service.

Yup, a car which spends a lot of time doing cold starts and city driving might be less than 15k miles between services, a car which spends most of the running time hot and in higher gears (motorway miles) could well see 20k miles between services, i would think most would be about 17/18k miles.

Is it me or can I not find a 2020 340i anywhere!? When I try nationwide on Auto Trader and BMW AU, only 2018/19 cars come up!? Is it to do with lack of sales during the pandemic? Also I guess leasing deals are still going for that year? Might see more up for sale in March/April next year, when the two year deals come to an end?

The maintenance minder in my 2021 M340i recommended an oil change soon at about 10k miles and I got it changed at 10.5k miles. I bought the car in June and had a lot of highway driving, so the service was done in October (4 months). 17k miles seems like a really long interval.

My 2018 435D is a low mileage car (14k miles) and I'm hitting the time bound rather than the mileage bounds interval. My next one is due in October 22, or 16777 miles it's telling me at the moment. Hoping it will be part exed for my M440i replacement before I have to do either limit.

Do diesels have shorter intervals these days? The reason I ask is all my previous BMW’s have been around 17/18k between services. My g20 320d had its first at 11800miles and according to the on board computer will have done 14k when it’s due it’s next.
I do 80% motorway driving at sub 70mph and can count on one hand how many times the engine has gone over 3k rpm during a drive. Just seems very low to say I drive like little miss daisy. |
