*Ordered* Allocation Needed - M340i xDrive
I'm ready to order but the dealers I reached out to so far have no allocations. If there is any dealer in the United States that has an allocation for an M340i xDrive, please message me. Thank you!

I am hoping that it doesn't exceed 90 days though bc my trade in value on my vehicle may need to be reassessed after that period is up.

its been really hard to obtain allocations for the M340 starting the middle of November, my dealer said I had one of the last allocations left on the east coast and it was not easy to get; for some (unknown) reason BMW is not giving out enough allocations and may have decided to produce less then the demand. If they are saying 90 days for allocations now, and EOP is what June? then people will soon be looking at the 2021 model... and waiting till the end of the year...

On another note, if it takes longer than the 3 months, I bet we could get even better deals on the M340i towards the end of the MY2020 production. Might not be all bad. Crappy part is trying to be patient for that long lol.

The last few orders through there were a little over 2 months from start to finish but that was a few months ago before allocations were running thin. The 90 day wait time was in line with what all 3 of the MN dealerships told me so I'm sure it's just a waiting game at this point. He did say if for some reason it did take longer than the 3 months, they'd likely still honor my trade in value. I've heard the plant shuts down for a couple weeks during Xmas, so really hoping to get more info prior to that!

Is this a common problem in the US due to high demand? I always thought you guys get the best stuff!
In Australia, I placed an order for an M340i on 9 Dec and the allocation is 3rd week January 2020. I think the car was already something in a totally different configuration to mine which they modified to match the spec and options I wanted. The change still resulted in the status of 112 - Scheduled for production and priority 1 - Customer Sold. I even have some BMW Individual Options (ivory full leather Merino), though nothing too crazy as even the Individual trim finisher I wanted made the production jump to June!!! I don’t think there was an option for sooner due to the Christmas and New Years shutdowns. I did hear there were capacity constraints due to the shift of all 3 series production to Germany (Mexico isn’t ready yet (?) and China is only for their domestic market) |

It does seem dependant on what colour you pick. I ordered on 27th November and my allocation is week 2 February 2020 with delivery predicted w/c 16th March. Dealer said they could not reconfigure existing allocations ahead in the queue because I picked an 'Individual' colour (Dravit Grey), but it would have been possible if I wanted a standard colour I guess.
I'm in the UK by the way. Digging in and preparing for a long wait! |

I still haven't been able to get an allocation. I don't know why it is so hard to buy a car. BMW advertises options on its configurator and I should be able to build, price, and purchase without weeks of hunting for an allocation. BMW is about to lose a customer. I understand I'm only one customer, but it counts for something.

I too am having issues securing an allocation. I'm not going to cancel the order but I think the 2 week shut down really slowed things down.
The largest dealer here in Minnesota also said they were looking at a 90 day lead time and allocations were far and few between. If you're able to wait it out, it will be worth it. Or you always arrange a purchase with an out of state dealer on in stock vehicle and pay the shipping fee?

I placed my order on 11/02/19 and a production number was assigned on 11/08/19. Production didn't begin until 12/09/19 and the car left the factory on 12/14/19. From there it traveled to Bremerhaven by rail, where it sat until 12/30/19. The holiday schedule and rough seas have further delayed delivery.

Is the fact that there is a scarcity of allocations available impacting the dealers' incentive to negotiate on price?
What kind of deals (amount off MSRP) are people getting on these ordered cars? I'm considering an order in an 'Individual' color - Tanzanite Blue. |

Typically ordering doesn’t affect the negotiated price. It did not affect my deal.

Allocations were dime a dozen months ago, and now they are extremely scarce. Not sure why.
I've inquired with a few dealers so far without success. Seems like the same for f82. Maybe zee Germans don't want to build cars anymore. |
