If you're worried about Comfort being obnoxiously loud, then worry not, even with the MPE it's still very refined. You'll definitely get some more pops and burbles than you would with stock but they're still very subtle. The MPE really shines in S+ mode.

Awesome! What about the fart sounds when switching gears. Did that get louder/more pronounced?

I would say so. It's louder and I'm actually hearing them more frequently now.

Can you comment on the install. Is it pretty straight fw? I have not peaked under the car yet, does it involve cutting out the old system and installing the new? Or does one slide out and the other one slides in?

I am thinking where I will be storing my stock system as the darn thing looks pretty big. in F10, it was just the mufflers and did not take much room at all.

I'm not too sure as I got the install done at a dealer since I don't have the space or capability of a self-install. From my discussion with the shop foreman prior to the install he was under the impression that it slides out and slides in which would coincide with how quick the shop got it done. But again, my apologies I did not do it myself so I'd take my experience with a grain of salt.

It does involved cutting the old system out but it is very straightforward. Our tech had the MPE installed on mine in 10-15 minutes.

MPE is more basic than MPPSK and doesn't include a tune. This just has one valve on the right side that closes in comfort mode and opens in sport and sport plus, it may be slightly louder than stock and not have the gunshots of the MPPSK, so not as dramatic as MPPSK and no performance increase, so it is also less expensive. There is also an MPE for the 340 with no tune. The MPPSK has two valves that open on each side and are closed in comfort and below 4K rpm, when it's open you basically have a straight pipe cat back exhaust vs. this the exhaust gases still pass through the muffler when the valve is open.

True, I have MPPSK and the system is brilliant and the sound is amazing.

It's a shame they didn't make it like MPPSK, the M340i is an amazing car and deserves a better sound.

Could still see bmw coming out with an MPPSK down the road, on the f30 it took a year to two after they upgraded to the B58. And that was at LCI so deep into the lifecycle (also true they had the tune and exhaust separate on the n55)

If I had to guess they want to get the M3 final power figures sorted out and car released to market (although the s58 is in the wild in the mx3) and evaluate demand for the kit before offering another bridge to get the m340 closer to m3.

The N55 MPPK did come with an intake, the MPE was sold separately. Not sure when the MPPK came out. My understanding was that the power output on the G20 M340 was already substantially higher than the F30 MPPSK it was like they were including it standard so they weren't going to release a separate power kit, just an exhaust as the power level is already getting close to the previous M3. Looking at the power levels in the X3M and X3M comp/X4M should give us an idea of what the next M3 will be like. If the power kit is topping 400 horsepower that is getting close to S58 base territory. Not sure how much more people would spend with BM3 being much cheaper though I'm not sure when or if the current BM3 will work with B58TU.

We were talking about the sound side of MPPSK not the tune.

Do you know the part number for the exhaust? It doesn’t appear on bmw website and my dealer doesn’t seem to know about it, they only mentioned the one for the 330i.

If anyone is on the fence about getting the performance exhaust I'd highly recommend it if you have the option.

Just took delivery of my M340i yesterday (coincidentally right after tossing a M340i around in an autocross at the BMW UDE event) and I can immediately tell it is quite a bit louder on the interior and exterior.

I did a dual resonator delete on my F30 340i and I believe the M340i with MPE is louder and I still haven't taken the car past 3k RPM yet.

I have to agree although exhausts never get the full sound from a video unless someone has excellent quality mic's for getting sound which is usually someones iphone not a professional setup.

I will get a side by side of a stock M340 with mine and hopefully that will bring out the difference. Depending on the day(Saturday evening or Sunday morning) I would be willing to meet up as well.
Did you ever get this video? I just placed an order for my M340i and would love to hear it before I look into this option.

I would love to see/hear this as well. On my 340 I went with the Dinan mid pipe and I really liked that but I am considering this option on the upcoming M340

Can someone who has MPE already installed please confirm if the muffler has the label "M Performance" stamped on it? It would be embossed on the underside of the muffler.
