No problem with the rear. However, front grill is awful and polarizing like the 2009 Acura TL grill. This could surely decrease sales leading to a fast redesign just like the old Acura TL. Don't know what they are thinking. Imagine seeing one of these in your rear view mirror and being happy that you don't own that thing.

In hindsight, it makes sense for it to look like an Audi now; given the push towards all wheel drives and autos.

why are the slats horizontal?
why? WHY?

The Chinese pickup truck "DFSK" clearly copies the BMW grill, but the slats are horizontal.
Now the M3 is expected to have horizontal slats

The guy behind this design believes this is beautiful, obviously! and thinks that we are going to accept this and some day like it

WHO accepts the final design? the designer? the board? the CEO?

It's completely different with the current pedestrian standards though. That car has grilles that follow the curvaceous front end, but with modern cars it just looks tacked on and flat/upright.

I also think it needs bigger side intakes to offset the enormity of the grilles.

Agreed only because of the username from the greatest show ever.

I'm in no way saying that render looks as good as the 328, but the clown who said it went against history clearly doesn't actually know BMW history.

Just 5 short years ago we went through a similar process for the F80 M3 renders - https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=591048

I was saying the same thing to a few guys earlier... everybody is going to hate it now but when it arrives sales will go threw the roof and we will see a bunch of post that begins like so... "I really hated at first but..." lol

Keep in mind everyone this isn't bimmer first shot at this huge grille thing it's where everything started long before any of us have been living so give them a chance I'm sure they'll get it right.

Yes... But the new 4 series is rumored to get this grill and the past m3s have shared their front end with the coupe version, so this m3 will get the 4 series front again

I'm no professional and may be in the minority here.... but I would love to see this. I know it's an M8 concept from end but something similar would be nice. I was hoping to lease this model when my current lease is up.

Short memory. I've been around a really long time, and never has aesthetics been this controversial. In comparison, people didn't have so much disdain for the E36, E46, E9X and F8X. There were issues with weight, dash ergonomics, hood line/detached kidneys, etc....but outward appearance overall wasn't an issue. The prior 4 generations looked good. Go back and read old threads from 2002, 2008 and 2014.

I can see some sort of "evolution" from this rendering being the final product. Actually, with a little tweaking this could be a looker.

Symbolizing the resting place of the design team once the executives see the sales figures…

This is an abomination. It won't go to the lip as others have mentioned (to allow for active cruise control, etc.) but it will definitely look somewhat similar.

Just showed my 10 year old son this rendering and he said "the front looks like a butt"

Couldn't have said it better myself
