I highly doubt that 6MT would be available with MxDrive from my discussions with a senior BMW M engineer earlier this month at the Ring. Personally, after 2 days in the F90 driving the Ring, AT MxDrive is the way to go.
I'm not convinced. I got some seat time in the F90 and I prefer the F80 DCT. Having said that, the F90 is a more comfortable car on long trips and, for that reason, I might try the F90 next.
I have said this before recently, the F90's on the Ring were lapping the F92 DCT groups, especially in wet, slick conditions. My F83 DCT is tuned to 530hp/490 torque and the DCT stutters in 1st/2nd gear even with the GTS DCT software, compared to my F85 which is very smooth with the AT. Why I'm strongly considering the upcoming M8 now rather than an other F83 DCT in 22 months.

If true, this will be the last M3/M4 with RWD and MT. BMW will surely this a metric and business case why MT and RWD are pretty much dead.

But with that said, the power and drivetrain of the M5 has received excellent reviews and I'm sure it will translate very well to the M3/M4.

Thanks for the feedback. The F90 is still in the back of my head as a possible successor to the F80/82 for me. While the M8 is sure to be beautiful, a bit too large for my taste. I know it appeals to you though.

Great to hear if you want BMW M xDrive and the Competition Package from day one with no wait time! Why they've not done that I will never understand. This is how the M3/M4 should come stock!!! About freaking time!

See y'all they do a listen, gotcha!
G80 Competition M xDrive AT

Hopefully they do 19" Front and 20" Rear staggered Wheels, like in the CS and the GTX for better handling.

this is bad news... now the question becomes; which one is the performance model; which one is the sought after one etc etc... Will one be for drag and one for track? This is not a good idea, create a selectable system like an m5.

I wish this would happen for long time.
I will drop mine M5 and M240xi for two M3 with manual and AWD
I am still wondering why M240xi doesn't come with manual :
But I believe M340xi comes with manual

Please BMW make M3 with manual and AWD.

Indeed. It seems unlikely to me that they will do all of the possible variants (speaking just about the sedan for now - coupe would be similar):

G80 MT
G80 AT
G80 xDrive MT
G80 xDrive AT
G80 Competition MT
G80 Competition AT
G80 Competition xDrive MT
G80 Competition xDrive AT

So, if I had to guess - and it is just a guess - I would expect something like:

G80 MT
G80 xDrive AT
G80 Competition xDrive AT

In other words, just like the F90 M5, but with the addition of a RWD MT "purist" model, the latter being sort of like the 911 T, I suppose.

If this is true,I’ll choose the RWD

If there is just the awd I ‘ll buy the Alfa Giulia QV next

And btw to be honest with 4 wheel drive is not an M3 anymore

Bmw stick to your tradition and history and keep the M3 the icon that has always been

The die hard 6MT enthusiast doesn't understand that BMW M engineers design and develop the M engine and transmission based on the DCT/8AT. The 6MT is thrown in as an after thought as it's out dated technology. I don't see the future CS model being offered with a 6MT, only MxDrive 8AT.

That is a distinct possibility, yes:

Not true for the M3/M4. In generations where there was a sedan (E36, E9x, F8x), the coupe either came first or they came at the same time.

Now, as far as the 3 Series sedan vs. the 3 Series coupe and now the 4 Series are concerned, yes, the sedan comes roughly a year and a half before the coupe. That, however, has never caused the release timing of the M3/M4 variants to be similarly staggered, but as you will learn if you read the above thread, that could change for this generation.

I'd be very surprised if you can choose between the 2 vs having them combined into 1 like the m5. Combining into 1 is likely cheaper and this is bmw / a business , so profit obviously takes priority.
