No it is model & regional specific and cannot be coded in the car alone From my basic understanding it is controlled from a server in Munich that has a list of vehicles that are OTA compliant a local telcom service provider to relay the data and it also requires the vehicle to be running the previous iStep software level ie 11/2020 anything older has to be done by the dealer

Are you in Australia or India? Your profile says India. I'm not sure if OTA is setup in India because it requires BMW to do a deal with a local telecommunication company. Coding won't help you. You will need to go to a dealer.

The only way I could imagine (other than going to a dealer), and I have no idea how you would do it... is get a copy of the new version and upload via USB similar to map updates. But if it hasn't been released to India then it's probably for a good reason and it simply may not work.

I haven't driven my car yet enough to charge the battery so the update for 03/2021 is still sitting in the car waiting.

Mine just got updated (without even asking me) by the dealer while fixing another issue (rear diff controller failed) it's now got the 07/2021.40 software, which the first thing I noticed was the sound seems to have notably removed some of the cracks and aggressive sounds when accelerating rapidly, I'm speaking with my dealer now as obviously that's a pretty major thing to change with the car without me asking or knowing that it would be updated for a completely different issue.

Although salespeople know a fair amount of the features of the car, they can’t get to know everything. Even the BMW Genius admitted that he did not know ALL the features of the car. He explained that because he drives, but does not own a BMW, it’s very difficult to know all the nuances of a particular model.

As of September 2021 second dealer opened in Adelaide at the old Dave Potter Honda dealership in Glenelg part of JMG who are a BMW dealer in Melbourne for some time I believe

Correct.
I checked it out earlier this month. The people working there seem very keen to please.
I understand that they will be making big changes to the dealership by rebuilding it one module at a time so as not to inconvenience customers. It should be a very slick dealership by the time it’s finished.

2020 M340 with 7/2020 updated about a month ago. No change in exhaust sound for me

Being new to the BMW ecosphere and not knowing Bimmerpost.com even existed I had a few questions about the 18 month old G20 330i MSport i was buying and Adelaide BMW were most helpful and polite even though they weren't getting a sale.

I'm pretty equidistant between the 2, might give them both a go as service us needed.

Next one is not for another 12 months

07/21.40 update was performed on my car at the dealer while in for a sunroof seal replacement. No noticeable changes yet.

Was running 03/2021 before. Wireless Carplay & Android Auto still drop out around the city :*(. About the only change is I can now honk my horn in the myBMW app lol...

Do you drive around in Sport+ often? And is your car a 2020 M340i?
