2021 M340 - Want some sound

Any recommendations on what I should do to give this thing some sound when I rip it? My friends like how it sounds but I want it to have a little more presence. It's a lease so I don't want to do anything crazy, but I can't justify spending 3k for the MPE exhaust (dealer said it's 2500 for parts, 500 for labor..) for just sound haha. I also don't want it to be annoyingly loud.

Any suggestions? JB4? Downpipe? MPE? Do I have any other cheaper options if it's just for sound? I wouldn't mind spending the 3k if I had some sort of performance boost on the MPE.

Really wish I knew the 21's were much quieter than the 20's before I bought.

Appreciate any suggestions. I have read some of the posts on here in regards to this but still cannot make up my mind.

Hey brotha on the same boat as you I’ve went all out though I’m currently running stock mufflers with a catless downpipe and jb4 but if you want louder you can do a simple muffler delete or if you want something a little smooth a catless downpipe also does justice.

Garage List
Could do the AA catted downpipe. It's a bolt on, so easy bolt off. Guaranteed no CELs as well. I personally don't run one on mine solely because of finances. I do have a Dinan exhaust installed, which I could recommend for some additional oomph, but you have to cut the factory exhaust and I'm not sure how far into modding your lease you're trying to go.

Personally, I am leasing a 2021 m340i and shortly after I ordered an AWE TRACK EXHAUST, and it sounds absolutely amazing. It’s a pretty much a straight system and cheaper than what you were quoted at the dealership. With parts and labor it ran me around $1900. There’s no muffler but they also have a resonated, and a touring edition that has a muffler. Although, it does cost more. It has clamps so you can take it off and put the oem back on with ease. I also get burbles when downshifting and some aggressive ones in 5th gear. I also plan get a DP and then a tune soon.

Look in the vendor section for better MPE pricing then find a good muffler shop and you will easily knock 1k+ off that dealer price. AWE is at the top of my list when I get ready to pull the trigger.

Start with the active autowerke catted downpipe.

If you still want more a louder sound, Check out AWE or Dinan
They are both reasonably priced

Is that down pipe $1400?

Kinda ghetto fabulous, but I heard a customers leased m340 with the muffler replaced with straight pipe. Cost him like 200 bucks at a muffler shop and he saved the muffler to put it back to stock.

It sounded really good but I'd imagine it would drone for sure. If you're doing a downpipe taking off the muffler too would be too much as it would be straight through with nothing quieting the system down.

MPE

Got it on my 2021 M340i

Quite a few installs can be seen /heard on YouTube.

It's only a muffler.

But it is a good sound without being too loud but there is no way not to hear notice it even in comfort mode

I did this (muffler delete), and I love it.

Pros:
- Car overall sounds amazing and louder.
- Brings your pops/burbles to life - you can hear them much better and occasionally if you let off throttle at the right rpm, you get an extremely loud pop/crackle - yes, even on a 2021
- Cheap, easy to switch back to stock for cheap as well

Cons:
- VERY loud Cold Start (I’m used to it and my neighbors have not complained so far)
- Drone in 8th gear at certain highway speeds (easily remedy this by learning where the drone rpm range is and avoiding it, or just flick the transmission into sport which keeps the car in 7th gear)

Overall, it was one of the best cost-effective mods I’ve done.

I have a 2021. About to do res delete and catless dp. I would do muffler delete but I want to retain the valve.

I found the MPE for $1,463 here:
https://www.bmwpartsworldwide.com/oe...20-18302464492

I see you are located in NJ. I was quoted $225 by TSD Motorsports in South Jersey to install the MPE. Here is their website: https://www.tsd-motorsports.com/

I haven't pulled the trigger yet, as I also lease my '21 M340 and I'm not sure I want to spend $2K on an exhaust. I just wish the damn thing sounded better!
