After asking a local mechanic to install it he suggested I don’t because it looks like a cheap product. Does anyone have any experience

It's a high-quality part, it used to be named Agency Power B58 intake and was our most popular B58 intake.

Its for the F chassis though, don't think it will fit on your car without modifications

Do you know what kind of modification is needed for it to fit?

I had it on my f30, when it was under the agency power brand and it sounded amazing. My mechanic said he thought it was pretty good quality.

Honestly you are better off with stock box and a drop in filter for what you are getting.. intake is exposed so its going to be sucking that hot engine all day long. Could notice a decrease power and response.. This is why people got rid of the BMS intake. Will probably sounds better but that's about it... Also that's not for the m340... its for the 340. I doubt it will fit.

VM Performance (not the same as VR Performance) did a dyno with the BMS intake and it showed an 8 whp gain over stock.

the intake is mostly for sound, correct. But i have not seen a single data showing any power loss from an open intake. Not on a turbo BMW.

I called and emailed the day after order realizing it wasn’t going to fit my chasis and two weeks later they’re still not providing me with return information and now all of a sudden they want to hit me with the 25% fee.

That's what VR charges for taking the item back, but yes, you are correct. We charge a restocking fee if you change your mind about a perfectly fine product. We currently have over 80K in returned products, and some of them have been sitting on a shelf for a few years.
This does not include the products that we had to sell for a loss (which we do daily) just to get rid of them. You can check out all the returned products on our eBay, and I will post a complete list below.

This might not mean much to you, but as a small business owner, this is most of my profit sitting on a shelf because some customers changed their mind. We run on a very tight margin to offer the best price to our customers; having our profit sitting on a shelf puts my entire business and years of hard work at risk.

Please note this does not apply to defective items, just items that the customer got and decided days later he does not want. We do not feel it's fair that I put my business at risk because you changed your mind, and we make it clear to everyone that this is our policy before they even purchase. If you decide not to buy from us, we understand. If you choose to get the product still, we sincerely thank you for your support.
But what we cannot do is have the customer read our policy, agree to it then complain later about it.

You make it sound as if we are tricking customers. In reality, we take extra steps to make it clear to our customers what our policy is.

You do not have to like our policy but we made it clear to you before you placed the order and you decided to still get it.

As for the list of eBay products, here is a what we currently have listed and have been struggling for years with an ever-growing list of returns.

Please note that we sell returned products at a loss every day + free shipping + eBay fees + Paypal fees and even with our best effort to get rid of all these items at any cost, the list is huge and keeps growing. If we were holding onto products and waiting to sell them at retail we would have been out of business by now and that list would have thousands of returns.

Try selling it in the f30/f32 forums or even f22, which is what it's technically designed for. I reached out to xph once before purchasing something and they told me it wouldn't work, essentially talking themselves out of a sale but saving me from wasting money. It sucks, I get it, but the aftermarket parts business is extremely competitive and doesn't have huge margins so u can't expect them to eat the cost because u made a mistake.
