The electronic valve motor could be ordered seperately (goes out and has to be replaced or whatever the reason may be). Would just need to call in to the technical sales team to place an order for the sub-assembly piece.

You can order the black tips from Dinan. Might take a bit, but it can be done. I ordered the SS tipped version because I didn't really want to wait and called to confirm that you could order separately.

I ordered their black tips, I am just not a fan of them. I have always preferred double wall angle cut for large tips. I might have to find someone to custom make some it seems

Could try Nameless performance - they make some pretty nice exhausts for other platforms and believe they sell the tips separately

I noticed tire rack also offers the same dinan exhaust for much cheaper. Any red flag?

Had to see for myself, but no shit, Tire Rack sells the exhaust for A LOT cheaper. I've gotten tires from them on several occasions and haven't had any problems. I'd take a leap on buying the exhaust from them based on my tire shopping experience.

Can someone clarify a few things about exhausts for me please

Im definitely going to do something about this quiet sound from my 21 m340

From what I have seen on here AWE and Dinan seem to be the most popular options.

Does one or both of them get controlled with a valve. In other words, if i press the sport button will it get louder.

If it doesnt have the valve then those buttons are useless right. And this means that there will only be one volume for exhaust permanently right?

You are partially correct. The AWE exhaust cancels out the valve, so the exhaust will always be open. Switching to sport mode still adjusts the engine tuning to be more aggressive, and therefore modifies the exhaust note.

The Dinan exhaust adds in a second valve. So in comfort, exhaust exits the two inner outlets after going through the muffler. In sport mode, the valves open, and exhaust is allowed to exit directly out the outside outlets.

So, while I was waiting on dinan to get their act together, I went out an bought an awe touring non resonated exhaust. My honest impression is that it's way too loud and I literally cannot wait to take it off. Now, I just need dinan to hold up their end of the bargain. No way they keep the estimated ship date of 10/28.

They're support call handlers are pretty good and can keep you in the loop regarding your order. But I would've recommended getting the AA Catted Downpipe before getting the catback to get some sound out of the car while waiting.
