Unfortunately we don't have the harness to plug it in that any of us could find. I just did the aftermarket one that has an easy connection to the 12V.

Very Nice. What did it cost and where did you purchase from ?

Got it on eBay and it was $60 USD. This was an easy plug in connection to the 12v. No splicing or anything like that. The only challenge, which wasn't much, was to enlarge the second hole on the tray (the one in the back) to feed the black wire.

My only beef about the unit is the indicator light. Wish it was on the bottom. The larger phones with a cover would hide that light.

It's my understanding you'll swap out the NFC for the OEM charging pad. It's an easy swap.

Rear head rest removal on 2021 BMW M440i convertibles.

Pry up the grey trim cap at the base of each leg of the head rest. Underneath is a squeeze clip similar to the exposed squeeze adjustment for the front seats. Squeeze the clip and lift the head rest out of its holder. It slides out very easy. Snap the grey decorative cover back. That's it. The only tool needed is something thin bladed like a knife to pry up the decorative cap

Will this work without having the BMW wireless charger installed?

I have an aftermarket wireless charger on the way, and hoping I can code this without the actual BMW pad installed.

My ODBLink is also on the way, otherwise I'd just test it out myself.

Thanks!

I tried coding it on the aftermarket one and it didn't work.

This DOES NOT work with the aftermarket chargers, as they are only connected to the 12V and ground.

You can retrofit the OEM charger by splicing the 12V, ground, and the KCAN4 connectors on the BDC module. Then you can code for the reminders to work.

I am unsure however if the Digital Key functionality can be retrofitted as well, since technically you can acquire the OEM Wireless Charger with NFC pad but the activation will likely require ConnectedDrive services - I will be retrofitting the OEM one once I get the part for my F98 LCI however, since the Digital Key was removed.

Hi,

I've only tested it on the OEM pad myself so I'm doubting that would work though I hope it would. But if the connector's wiring of aftermarket pad is similar or even the same as the OEM one (so the BDC would still be able to detect the electrical signal from the charging pad when engine is shutoff in this case), it wouldn't surprise me if it works.

But it wouldn't do any harm to try it Post it here if it works.

Thanks

Just retrofitted this on my G80 M3 using part number 84-10-5-A1D-B18 (cost $150)

Literally took me 20 mins to fit, just need plastic trim removal tools, and a hex screwdriver, some photos:

Wireless charging and NFC both work. I tested my iPhone digital key start engine, and the credit card digital key start engine.

Just need to code in the forgot phone reminder via the Bimmercode app (for when you leave the phone on the charger), which I will do on the weekend.

I believe so but I am not 100% sure, if someone has access to BMW parts catalog maybe they can check?

I have a 2022 330xe (no nfc) and I bought 84-10-5-A1D-B18. When it arrived I just realized it's just a tray without any connector so I can't install it on my vehicle. (I believe if my car has nfc then it should be fine) Does anyone know what's the connector part I need to get for it to work? Thanks!

I had the same blank tray (no NFC) and couldn't find the connection so I went with an aftermarket one.

I posted it earlier in this thread, (about post 84). But knowing what it is and actually being able to get it are different things, let me know if you have any luck.

Try turning nfc off on your phone and see if it fixes your issue

is there a chance you know where this type of harness can be bought/ordered?
where is the BDC module's location?

I'm in the same boat. My 340/22 came with NFC deleted. The center console has just a plastic tray with a rubber mat. I purchased the OEM wireless charging tray from BMW (Part# 84-10-5-A3E-813) and when I tried installing it I ran into two problems.

1. There is no connector to plug the charging tray into. When I ordered my car the wireless charging tray was an option, I just didn't select it. So with it as an option I assumed that the connector would be there even if there was no NFC. Wrong.

2. The charging tray will not fit into the space on the plastic tray. I removed the rubber mat but there are tabs on the edge that prevent the charging tray from sitting flat on the plastic tray. Very frustrating.

So, I put everything back together and will now see if BMW will take the charging tray back.
