I thought it was 2 weeks at the most... I'm getting anxious here.
I've been reading a week, so even two weeks seems slow. My car just entered production... hoping transport times aren't dropping.

Yes!!! I checked today like I have been every day and to my surprise it changed to "in transit". I really thought it would be stuck at the port for a long time since everything I've read about shipping has been bad news.

Now let's see how long it takes to get to the U.S and be able to dock. Apparently there's been a big problem even docking at major ports throughout the U.S especially CA. They have all these tankers and cargo ships just circling until they can go in and dock.

Somebody earlier in this post found out what ship the car was in and tracked it. How did you find that?

Nah... I'm not obsessed, just curious.

Great!! Mine just went to "Awaiting carrier assignment", this morning. It can't come soon enough!!

Also, I believe you need to call the BMW Genius line, and they can tell you the ship your car is on.

Everything I read says 6-8 weeks to go from Bremerhaven port to the U.S. It seems like a long time. I'm in FL so I wonder if the ship goes to the closest port like Miami or some other port on the East Coast and then trucked over to the dealership.

Really?? I've read about a week from port to port. And while my car is behind yours, my CA said to expect to have it in early November.

Maybe it's faster who knows. I have my current car I have to sell so I'm tying to time it so I don't end up without wheels for too long.

I just called the Genius hotline..... They have the ship arriving on the 17th October but they don't know which port on the East Coast and they wouldn't give me the ship's name. Must be a top secret operation....

Hmm... I know people have learned the name of the ship their vehicle is on... Assuming the Genius didn't tell them, they may have been able to figure it out using the port and date of departure, along with ports on the East Coast. Though it seems like there'd be far too many possibilities. Maybe someone with more knowledge can chime in.

I found out....my dealer had the info. It's on a ship called Hawaiian Highway. It left on the 4th from Bremerhaven and it's due in Baltimore on the 16th. I think from there it goes to Jacksonville FL. Not sure exactly how long after it docks the dealer gets it though.

I'm going to watch that ship like a hawk!

I can’t say with 100% certainty, but I’m pretty sure the ship will dock at Brunswick, GA rather than Jacksonville, FL. I know BMW has a Vehicle Distribution Center (VDC) at Brunswick. I’ve never heard of one at Jacksonville.

Hmmm... you may be right about that. Makes sense.

I just checked the ship's info and destination. It just says it's going to Baltimore. Not sure if these ships make multiple stops or just one. But I guess my car will be driven from Baltimore all the way to Florida.

They make multiple stops. Baltimore is usually first and then on to Brunswick.

I see, I'd almost rather it was put on a truck and driven down. That damn cargo ship only goes at 20 mph.

UPDATE: The Hawaiian Highway ship docked in Sparrows Point Saturday at 5 PM. It moved to Dundalk further up the river and that's where it's at now...

My car still has a STOP SALE cause of the RAM module. No idea when and if it's going to Brunswick GA any time soon. No clue how long this whole process will take. Then there's the installation of that module and how long that takes assuming they even have it....

This build process is very painful unless you have incredible patience!

Update!

Car arrived at the port in Brusnswick GA Thursday night 10/21 at 7 PM. As strange as it seems my SA just called me and told me he has an ETA for the car arriving at the dealership next Monday 10/25. That's only 4 days later and with the "stop sale" on it because of that RAM. I almost shit my pants.

I don't know how this is possible but I guess it is. I thought most cars arriving in Brunswick GA didn't have the RAM and a work order has to be issued and then do each car one by one. Not sure how many are arriving there but I'm sure it's quite a few. I was expecting a delay of at least another week to get all cars done assuming they even have the part.

Maybe if all goes well I'll have the car by next Wednesday and then it's pic time!

I will keep you all updated....

I only have 2 pics the SA sent me when the car got dropped off yesterday. I’ll take some decent ones on Monday after the tint job and post.
