M340ix used 2021 vs new 2022

Hi all,

I’m a newbie here and in the process of buying a M340ix which will be my first BMW ever. I am posting this thread because I’m not sure which is the best route to go between 2 cars and 2 dealers in STL. They are both Alpine White with the same options: Premium Package and Shadowline Package
One is a Ford dealer which is selling a Used 2021 with a little over 12k miles on it for $57k.
The other one is of course a BMW dealer which is selling a New 2022 for $62k plus $299 admin fee
What I’m thinking about is whether to go with the used one to save money or getting the new one with the free Ultimate Care Program.
Any input would be greatly appreciated and I hope you guys have a great weekends.

My view for that price difference is go new. With powerful cars you never know if an idiot was the previous owner.

Make sure the '22 isn't missing anything due to shortages the '21 might have. Wireless charger, passenger seat boosters, comfort access for the trunk.

In my area its near impossible to find pre-owned anything, let alone for a reasonable price. That said, if I was able to find a preowned G20 in my spec with options I wanted, the price difference between that and a new one was VERY minimal. I went with a new one and the only option I wasnt able to get due to the parts/chip shortage was adaptive suspension. I think thats an acceptable trade off considering the state of the car market at this point in time.

Same features. Go for the new car. The ultimate car makes the price closer and you will have approximately another year of OEM warranty.

$5k savings for 12k extra miles is not that much, so my choice likely would be brand new 2022 between the two.

Take the new route...there are deals out there on new 22 M340i's. I got 5% off MSRP on my MY 22, which is considered a steal in this insane market. Though, you will be missing the adjustable seat widths, passenger seat lumbar support, and wireless charging. All options I could care less for...

The dealer I talked to won’t discount anything and they’re putting a $299 admin fees on top. And all the features you talked about, I couldn’t careless also. Especially the passenger seat lumbar support, I won’t seat there anyway. Lol

I wonder if it’s possible to add lumber and width adjustment at a later date with the parts yourself.

For that small price difference go new!! Plus I don’t like buying Bimmers from non-BMW dealers.

New ofcourse. A 5k difference is nothing, plus you get a piece of mind knowing how the car is treated from day 1.
