If I were really particular about country of origin, I would prefer the materials used be manufactured in the preferred country (in this case Germany) over who assembled it.

At least BMW gets a few years of cheap labor until USMCA kicks in. There will be giant quality issues for the first few years (or more). Enjoy

No stick. Cars made Mexico. I'm out.

Not sure if you are asking me? Anyhow I do, the non German assembled BMW I mentioned was made at the SA plant, I even visited the plant and discussed this very issue with the foreman (He was German and a transfer from a German plant)

Yes it is bizarre as BMW has been farming out vehicle production to other countries since 1973.

Why can't we have both? Certainly paying enough, agree?

Ehhhh... this blows. SA cars were amazing. Better QC then in Germany. Mexico scares me. When VW went to Mexico the cars went to shit. Same gen cars. Back to back customers with mex cars had way more issues.

It is the reality of automotive manufacturing worldwide. You have Mercedes Benz being built in Alabama, Nissans in Tennessee, Hondas in Ohio, Fords in Russia, BMWs in Thailand and India and the lists goes on and on.

You can certainly vote with your valet. But there is nothing you can change about where
Manufacturers ultimately chose to assemble their vehicles at.

And tarriffs are what force many of those decisions by manufacturers on where to make product for certain markets.

A tariff on German assembled 3 series vehicles wouldn't exist on the same 3er if it were assembled in Mexico, for example.

Also why so many X models are produced here.

AMG manufactured across the pond, "M" division I expect the same. The rest of the Bimmer lineup doesn't really interest me

C63 sedan and all the AMG SUVs are made in Alabama. And GLC production for the US is moving to India too.

if you are from the US than you probably have the cheapest prices world wide for a BMW. so no you don't pay top dollar.
