Not noticed it before, but tonight sat idling in xtraboost mode and found if I blip the throttle there's quite a violent short sideways lurch/shudder of the whole car, almost like an engine mount is not secure. Anyone else noticed that?

I've only a 330e, so not like there's a big v6 trying to escape under there.

Reason I was in xtraboost was trying to work out the combination of settings and modes to get the off-side exhaust flap to open. Tried all sorts and it's having none of it... but thats another story.

I have a 330i which is essentially the same engine and don’t have anything like that but I would agree with your suspicion that an engine mount could be at fault. I don’t know if they are fluid-filled or simply rubber bushes but I had a fluid-filled mount split on my e46 way back when and it did exactly that. If it’s repeatable (demonstrable) I’d let the dealer sort it.

Interesting that you still haven’t been able to get the exhaust flap to play nicely 🤬

I noticed this in the test drive I had in the 330i and it’s also the same in my 330e.

Thanks. Probably not worth a trip to the dealers then, however seems an excessive amount of movement to be normal.

Havent done anything about it yet to be honest. Doesnt seem to be getting any worse and doesnt seem to be making any strange noises in the process. Dont tend to use xtraboost much, so not really been an issue.

No idea if it's normal. I suspect the dealers would say so, and therefore just be a waste of a day getting them to look at it.

Ill give dealer a ring Monday see what they have to say. Thanks again

I too have a bimmercode app, I have a new 330e coming this week, where would I stand with warranty if I plugged the bimmercode in and changed this setting too?

I would guess the normal caveat. If you have a warranty claim, and they notice the car has been amended unofficially, they'll most likely use that as an excuse to blacklist your car and avoid paying out for any work.
Not worth the risk in my opinion, for an exhaust flap.

Agree with you on that one. Whilst it would be nice to personalise our cars exactly the way we want them by tweaking various settings it just gives BMW ammunition to reject a warranty claim and leave you paying a potentially huge bill.
It’s the same as not disclosing modifications to your insurance company whether they be performance enhancing or cosmetic, anything that may make the car more desirable to potential thieves. I know of cases where this has actually happened and the financial implications have been enormous.

Done in Bimmerlink not Bimmercode
Seperate app
Ive done loads of coding BMW said nothing
Also loads of "cosmetic" mods also nothing said, its works car and asked them first they didnt mind
Also running Racechip bur will remove before going in for service
Appreciate all a risk and may come back to bite me but im willing to risk it for the looks and performance
