Android Auto Random Crashes
Hi All,
Is anyone having this issue or have any suggestions? I took delivery in May for a 2021 BMW 330e. Everything has been working great but Android Auto seems a little weird. I have been using the maps to navigate and android auto randomly just crashes and restarts. It appears to happen at certain parts of the highway in the same place too. Any ideas? I have the Samsung Galaxy S10. I tried googling a lot and it just seems like AA is having a lot of problems in general? |

Yes. AA has a few bugs, one of which us random crashes. My G20 got updated yesterday from 07.2019. I didn't have AA before yesterday and I haven't used it yet. I use it all the time in my VW and it drops often. I thought it was an issue with the car's HU but then found out it was AA and not the HU/phone. They're apparently working on it.

I have a G21 330e since September 2020. It is over 15000km and I always use the AA, I had a Samsung S20 Plus and since January a Samsung S21 Ultra.
Rarely restarts AA, and when that happens is the phone is too hot, AA uses a lot of phone resources and we're talking about an S21 Ultra |

Hi so I've had the same issue can't remember the exact details but I changed my Bluetooth settings in the developer (hidden) features of my s10e. Ever since it's worked perfectly.

Apparently it's a common issue on Android Auto and is not limited to just BMWs. I've also experienced stuttering on long journeys when using Waze and Spotify.
Reading on an X3 forum someone mentioned it appears to be fixed in the latest beta version of Android Auto: https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1806319 Might be worth downloading the beta version or wait a bit until it's released to the public |

Can you please share what settings you changed? Would appreciate a screenshot of your current settings too. Currently have the same issue as described by OP, very frustrating to use AA and see it disconnecting every 10 minutes.

I have heard on here that it's android auto that has the bugs and not BMW . However, mine works ok,
Samsung S21 ultra. |

If it's happening at certain parts of the highway, the issue will almost certainly be RF interference. Wireless Android Auto and ACP use 5Ghz WiFi....the phone connects to a WiFi Access Point in the car. The WiFi frequencies are not guaranteed to be interference free...so your 5Ghz wifi connection in the car can be affected by road tolling equipment, WiFi extender equipment, and all sorts of other equipment operating on nearby signals. On my car, I get an AA interference problem when stopped at traffic lights outside a big McDonald's..I assume their WiFi signal is much stronger than that in my car..as soon as I drive off..AA is back to normal. If I'm in a rural countryside, AA is perfect..no or little RF interference in the countryside Not much you can do about it...you could complain to the FCC or whoever regulates and oversees Radio Frequencies in your country..but they won't be able to do anything as the allocated frequencies are not guaranteed to be interference free. |
