It wouldn't make sense since the all new 4-series GC have the same as the 3-series and not the one from i4.

If they where going all in for the new i4 dash why would they fit the old one in the new 4-series GC?
I agree with this. It makes sense. I had not looked at the Gran Coupe and didn’t realize it has the same dashboard as the current 3er.

Is no new dash the same as no iDrive 8?

... the new dash of the i4 will be phase-in to all G2x/G8x starting with the G20 LCI on 07/22.

I think iDrive 8 (going into G20 LCI) requires the new dash with wide screen.

Is that the confirmed rumor? I have seen LCI info in this forum saying that only the G20 will get the new dash and the G8x will not get it for MY23. I was going to wait for the LCI but not if it includes the new screen.

It does make some sense to have the G8x get it considering the G87 little brother will have it.

Do EVs have their own transmission wars too?

Hello our friend from the 1990s. How's the air there, not too smoky I hope?
Because of course Bmw have been a leading EV market since the late 90´s. And yes the air quality was better in the 90´s.

No. Those conversations will go like this:

Tesla owner: - What's a transmission?
Classic car fan, being full of himself (obv a male): launches into a 20 minute tirade about the world having gone to crap, everyone being an idiot, and how great it was to have a use for the right hand and the left foot.
Old grandpa somewhere in a corner: - Shut up, you don't even know what a dipstick is!

Starting with G70 in mid-2022, virtually every new BMW model will be sold with at least one fully electric version available at launch. So no, BMW wasn't an EV market leader in the 1990s, but it fully intends to be one in the 2020s.

When u said fully electric version, are u including PHEV as well? Is there any BMW BEV offerings other than i4 and iX by mid-2022?

Also BMW's BEV-centric architecture won't be ready until mid-2020's(2025?).

G70: one i7 model at launch.
U11: one iX1 model at launch.
G60: at least one i5 model at launch.

etc.

PHEVs are extra and no longer a priority.

Those are the shared ICE + BEV offerings then.

When PHEV is no longer a priority, does it mean PHEVs will start to be phased out starting mid-2020?

Nothing this drastic. PHEVs have their own place and will be in production for a long time. However, it's becoming pretty clear that BMW wants to emphasize its EV offerings, and PHEVs are kinda in the way of that, so there will be a difference in the sales push, PR, that kind of thing.

Honestly BMWNA marketing/PR of PHEVs is close to nil/non-existent, so PHEVs likely won't get in the way of upcoming BEVs.

Wait, they are now doing the BEVs at launch at not with years of delay like with the iX3 and i3?

That's huge, and I kinda lost hope when you updated the SOP list and the U06 PHEV will be delayed by 9 months, but maybe BEVs are different.

The 4GC dash likely shares 100% of its parts with the regular coupe and the coupe shares ~80-90% with the sedan so a switchover is likely very easy and not cost or design constrained at all
