Just wondered if anybody is currently or have very recently placed an order for a new 3 series and what they have been told to expect in terms of delivery timescales.
I test drove an M340i saloon just over 2 weeks ago but during the week prior had put down a deposit and placed an order for the M340i Touring (subject to final spec tweaks).

At the time salesman was hoping to be able to secure a potential September build slot (which would have meant a negotiation with another dealership) but this was not possible in the end.
Having spoken yesterday in an attempt to get a rough idea I was told that he would hope it would be November / December.

Both previous BMW have been either UK stock or traded from another dealer whilst on route to UK so I am not aware how the process works but it was implied that it's allocation of M340i for the UK that is the issue as though they are built in batches for regions.

Just curious as to whether others are being told a similar story or are expecting cars sooner having placed orders in the last couple of weeks.

Other than being eager to change cars my, I was also hoping to have swapped prior to the service on my current M135i (due October 21) and a potential need to change tyres if the order goes back too far.

My situation is very similar - dealer got a build slot from another dealer. Car ordered mid-June, due to be delivered mid-September.

I placed my order end of July and have a beginning of September delivery, it's already in production. This was a fluke chance that I found this dealer with such a close delivery slot. All other ones that I called were end of the year.

I placed an order for a M340i saloon 10 days ago and have been advised of a Nov build and first week Dec delivery.

Just to add my 2p.

I ordered 26th July, inital delivery est was mid October. Then my delivery date has been brought forwards to w/c 13th September. Mine is a custom factory build.

Got my very first BMW on order which is also my very first new car. 3 series with only paint and window tint as extra options. I ordered mine mid July and have delivery date of start of Oct. My wife has an X1 on order, ordered July also and delivery has just been pushed back from start of Nov to the end of Dec. Dealer said chip shortage to blame for the X1 slipping but it could come forward again.

Ordered G21 330i on the 4th of June. Dealer says I could get it in late August but have gone for a September registration (actual delivery date still tbc but hopefully first week).

Are you getting this information from your dealer or direct from BMW?

I checked mine last night with the genius team. Ordered mid July and still on track for mid September delivery. No options deleted from the spec ordered

Checked today and told expected build completion is 25th September. Its been stuck in build since 6th September and not progressed since., not even went onto paint yet.

Ordered my G20 back in July - was told it would be at the UK dealer in week 40... the dealer then checked and the date had slipped to week 44, and he said it could get pushed back even more! Wasn't very happy about this... so I canceled my order and got my 1K deposit back in full.

Its worked out OK because I also wanted the full tech pack with the HK and wireless charging... ATM - these items are NOT available in the tech pack because of a component shortage at present...

So the plan is to wait, watch the equity in my current car go up, and pull the trigger on the new 3 series when the lead times are a bit better and when they start offering full packs on orders instead of being compromised...

First post from a long time stalker.

I ordered G21 M340i in mid June for delivery in mid Sept (week 37). Last dealer update in early August was to expect mid/end Sept delivery but there’s a chance of it “coming forward slightly”.

I think my timeline is similar to others on here but the anticipation is killing me.

I ordered a G22 430i on 2nd July, was told it'd be 30th Sept delivery however, the dealer emailed me 2 weeks ago to say it'd just finished paint shop... So, fingers crossed it'll be a bit earlier than that! Just chased the dealer via email today to see if they have any updates.. I wish BMW would sort the customer experience out once you've ordered, it's pretty poor.

Yes, if they'd just let you log in to something that doesn't take up their time or make you feel like you're constantly harassing them. Unless such a thing exists and I don't know about it. The anticipation is one of the best parts of ordering a new car.

My order ‘history’ was always wrong! Original order placed beginning of April and car estimated for delivery first week in July. Then it came forward two weeks then went back one week! It was down as paint shop start when it was actually build complete. It was shown as at German customs at port of exit when it was being unloaded at Southampton.
Moral to the story is don’t get too hung up on BMW’s factory updates like I did, it’ll drive you nuts!
