As in it isn't a "feature" BMW offers such as the online tracker. You have to hunt that info down yourself.

Sorry, didn't mean to offend...tried to phrase it in a joking manner but I guess it didn't work.....yes, you have to do a lot of work on your own but to me that's all part of the process of getting a new car every couple of years

I know what you mean... like, yeah the wait is painful but I absolutely love the anticipation and the process. Don't know if I'll be able to go back to buying off the lot again.

Dreamsongs, I'll share my story. Ordered 7/16 with an immediate change to "Scheduled for production" as dealer had the allocation. M440i built at Dingolfing. Car sat at the body construction stage for over 10 days. Car was completed 8/24 and arrived at the port 8/26. It's still at the port. The dealer HOPES that it'll arrive by the end of this month.
This is my first BMW, but it seems to me that the delays happen at different stages for different cars; it can be anywhere in the process. I've seen cars sit at the factory for two weeks and mine left immediately. some sit at the port for weeks and some leave immediately.
In my case, the tracking feature seemed to be updated promptly.
I won't say it couldn't happen but I wouldn't count on having your car this month.
In the meantime, you have sympathetic ears on this site and aren't alone.

P.S. I can tell you the names of the five vehicle carrying ships at the port at this minute. I'll know when it's on the way.

I would happily buy a car off the lot over this torturous process if I could find one with the color and option I want, and that hasn't been test-driven by idiots. I test-drove and purchased my last car in one day- it was fabulous!

Yeah I get that - to me the wait and anticipation makes things all that much more special. And the feeling that I configured the car exactly how I wanted it makes it even more personalized and special to me. Kind of like, anyone can buy it off the lot and the vast majority of people do. But there's just something special feeling about something I special ordered.

Different strokes. Some call it anticipation. Some call it edging. I call it torture. But I agree about getting a car that's optioned exactly the way one wants it.

I think I wouldn't pay the price of a BMW if I had to compromise on how it is optioned. None of us needs a BMW; we want one. Why compromise?

The waiting is tough, though I knew it would be when I started the process.

My 440 convertible was just a few days ahead of you and my car sat at Bremerhaven for 13 days but is now at the Performance Center for delivery....I thought the 2 weeks there was unusual because the last 3 cars I tracked were only at the port for 2-3 days

Good info, thanks. Genius said car will be completed 9/14. After that I have no clue how fast it will go. I'll keep updating everybody for future reference's sake.

I would think your "best case" would be 4 weeks.....7-10 days at the port waiting for a ship, 10-12 days on the water, 7-10 days at VPC and transport to dealership.....but, if you need some parts they don't have it could double....good luck.

If you really want to torture yourself you should do Performance Center Delivery in South Carolina. It’s an absolute blast and a great overall experience, but it would add two or three weeks to your delivery time.

The way you put it sounds somewhat poetic.

In April, from the day I placed the order until the day I picked it up it was almost exactly two months.

My M440i was pushed from week 38 to week 44. I have to say I'm a little depressed about it!

OP, you have it good! I ordered mine 7-6-19, and picked it up 10-3-19. And at least you don't have to see it go through the Panama Canal! (Although it was kind of fun to watch it go through on the live cam.) Mine sat in Bremerhaven for 10 days, then at the port in Oxnard for another 5 days before it made it on to a truck for the drive to my dealer. It is a very trying time for the impatient, like me, but the wait is worth every minute once you get exactly what YOU want. Your first drive (and of course every subsequent drive) will be a little slice of heaven!

I guess then it has to be dispatched put on a ship and driven to the dealer. Maybe another 2 weeks from the 14th right? Maybe the dealer was right when he said by the end of September.....
I was told by Genius my M440i will be completed on 9/17. I think that you should really expect sometime mid to late October, otherwise you may upset yourself.
