Winter Alpin 5 Square Setup

Wondering if anyone is running the PILOT ALPIN 5 in 245/40R19 squared on factory rims? I believe it should fit.

I would not recommend 245 on 8inch rims.

What rims do you have ?

792M... If I do 225 or 235 I think I'm stuck with the Ice-X Snow or PILOT ALPIN PA4. I have not run proper winter tires in a long while will need to do more research.

792M are 19x8 front and 19x9.5 rear. They are made for staggered tire sizes, you could probably install 235 square but there would be no benefit and the rear tires would be stretched.

A not too expensive and we'll rated tire that is made is staggered format is the VREDESTEIN
WINTRAC PRO

Another option is to buy cheap wheels and 225 square tires, if you don't have the bigger brakes like me you could even drop to 18inch wheels. 225 will give great traction in snow

Unfortunately, my 792M's are the square setup thats 8's all around. I don't have the car yet to actually verify but they are listed as 1PX on the build sheet. I ordered the 898M's that are staggered with PS4S for the rest of the year. I'll have to look into the VREDESTEIN brand. I'm a bit of a Michelin fan boy.

Audi delivers summer wheels with 245/40 18 on 8" rims from factory. Is your hesitation due to 19" rims or because of winter tires?

Tire with/size to wheel with seems to be almost an obscure science, I have a tendency to look at tire specs on tire rack where they recommend the rim width that can be used with a given tire.

I ended up grabbing the Alpin 5's. They do list an 8 inch rim fitting the 245. I've had them on the 19s in the garage for a month now. Just installed today. Look great and fit really well.

Hi, seems it's goes really smooth on the road. Do you have any rubbing on close turns etc?
