Back in beginning of August (of 2021) when I placed my German built M340ix order thru a broker, I was originally set on getting the 791M jet back wheels with non-rft. The issue was a few days later, I realized I had selected run flats instead so I reached out to my broker to make the change to non-rft since there was plenty of time for change (status at 'Order Received).
Broker got back to me saying the sales advisor cannot change because 791m jet black wheels now ONLY come as run flats due to parts shortages. At this point I was getting pretty frustrated because I had to compromise on other parts of my build, I bit my tongue and went for 792M cerium grey wheels with non-rft instead. I was not trying to deal with crappy, expensive run flats. Can anybody confirm that this in fact is true? Or is the car advisor just playing with me. Lol

Seems I like I read something similar somewhere else.
The dealer doesn’t care what wheels you order. But I know there were some changes in the 21/22 order sheets Hit “ask a dealer” at bimmerfest.com |

Our car is scheduled for production (hopefully next week) with run-flats. I'm tempted to request a change, but don't want to throw a monkey wrench into the process and further delay production.

If the BMWUSA website is to be trusted, this is correct. When I ordered mine it was a different wheel that you could only get with runflats, but I was messing around with the configurator recently and noticed you could now only get runflats with the black 791s.

If it is indeed a parts shortage, I'm assuming orders that initially have the wheels in non-rft would eventually be switched to run flats before production begins. That's a huge bummer.

I remember i had to settle (June 2021) for the cerium grey wheels because that was the only choice i had if i wanted to get the PS4 tires... unless i get the cooling package. MY2022 might be different. But that was my case for end of MY 2021. |

Just checked on BMW website, for 2022, you still cannot get the black wheel with PS4 unless you add the cooling packaging.
The only option you have is 792M if you want PS4. Just in case if yall didn't know, you will lose about 1/3 of your trunk space if you go with 792M with non-rft due to the spares ( WITHOUT cooling package). I knew I would lose some space, but just not realizing just how much space i would lose It was pretty shocking. |

It's partially my fault for not doing my dd but still. I'd probably just keep things the way it is since I really like the 792m wheels as well. I definitely did not know about the spares taking up THAT much space but it's fine, I don't carry around much anyways haha.

Yes it takes THAT much space. there will not be any "sunken" space in your trunk.
Imagine you put the spare tire in your current 3 series trunk, then put a piece of cardboard on top of it, then that is how much space you will have left. There is nothing space saving about those space saving spares. I actually saw those pictures before i ordered mine and thought it was not a big deal... wait until you see it in person But worth the PS4 if you dont carry stuff. https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1645207 Last edited by oonowindoo; 10-04-2021 at 05:42 PM.. |

Not a deal breaker, but you loose serious trunk space. To the point I had to get QR pedals for my e-mountain bike to fit in the trunk. One bike, a folding e-bike, has to go in through the rear doors with the seats down. Won't even fit in the trunk, and I'm not putting a trailer hitch, bike rack, or roof rack on my M340i. |

I never thought i could lose so much space that my tiny 20" wheel Folding bike barely fit now with part of the bike scratching the ceiling of the trunk. Same here on the bike rack, the reason i got the smaller wheel folding bike (SLOW AF) was because i didnt want to install things to hold the bike... |

The mountain bike I converted to an e bike has QR front wheel, seatpost, and pedals, and if I remove all three it fits in the trunk with the seats down. I gave the folding ebike to my nephew, as it was a little small for me anyway, and at 55lbs, was a PITA getting in and out of the car--was afraid I'd scratch the paint hoisting it in. The much bigger bike I converted actually fits, and weighs in at just under 28lbs. |
