ECU Unlock with MHD Stage 1

Sharing my experience.
  • I have a 2020 M340ix built in March 2020 with 2021/07 software.
  • ECU was unlocked by SouthernBM (Melbourne) in just over an hour.
  • Installed MHD Stage 1 with all the burbles etc, in their driveway. Took about 4 mins.
  • Drove home with a big smile. What a difference.
Over the coming week I will play with the options to find my perfect settings. Purchased the MHD super licence as over the coming years I will play with Stage 2, E30, etc.

MHD just updated all maps for B58 Gen 2, claiming stage 1 98 RON (rubbish Australian fuel) gives you 318kw & 617nm at the wheels. This is what I am currently running.

Next I will try running a E40 mix, which is easy to do as the hidden BC menu in BMWs tell you exactly how much fuel is in the car; the stock fuel pump can easily handle E40 in B58 Gen2; and using a phone app to calculate how much United E85 to combine with 98 RON; will get you 343kw & 657nm at the wheels.

All of this on a completely stock car. Gotta love BMW straight 6 turbos.

If I put in just a downpipe and run stage 2 E40 map, this goes to 377kw & 789nm at the wheels which MHD claim gets you from 0-100 in 3.1s and a 10.9s 1/4 Mile car.

Not even sure I will do the DP yet, but I am always looking at the next step.

Hope you’ve got plenty of fake driving licenses to give to the cops

Thats interesting, I am running BM3 stg2 with catless VRSF DP, FTP charge and turbo inlet pipe, heat soak is a killer but we are consistently seeing 318kw atw with timing being pulled back in the top end. This is due to IAT reaching 60+ degrees.

Stg 1 was a consistent 310kw with tune only, no dp or charge pipes

Hey RLYSLO,

the only way to 100% address soaring IAT's on the dyno or aggressive road driving is upgrade to a CSF heat exchanger and charge-air-cooler/manifold.

I did the CSF radiator upgrade at the time of doing the Pure850 turbo install and the reduction in IAT's were noticeable, but by no means super significant.

The "silver bullet" was the CSF charge-air-cooler/manifold...

OMG, on moderate temperature days I'm seeing IAT's actually FALL during dyno pulls or 3rd to 4th gear pulls on the road when datalogging.

The actual baseline inlet air temps prior to doing a pull haven't dropped a lot in comparison to the factory hardware, but they simply do not rise under WOT and that's with me running 25psi from the Pure850 turbo.

Unfortunately the CSF manifold upgrade is quite expensive, but please feel free to hit me up for pricing on a bundle deal of the radiator and manifold. ;-)

Cheers,

Justin@JDTuning.

This sounds like a good plan of attack on the mods for my 2020 M340ix..... I already have an MST Intake on it's way, then am looking at getting a VRSF Catted Downpipe, FTP Charge Pipe Kit, then Unlock DME and Bootmod3/xHP Tuning
