BMW M340i - MHT 2021 Model

Hello all,

I have just ordered a M340i xDrive (UK) from my local dealer. Due for delivery in early December. I have gone for:
-Black Sapphire
-Ivory White / Black extended Merino Leather
-Shadow Line Pack
-Red Calipers
-Tech Pack
-Heated Steering wheel

Risky going the white leather but wanted to go for something slightly different and to lift the cabin slightly.

I'm moving out of a 2018 540i xDrive to the M340i, I just feel the 5 isn't as sharp and performance capable as I'd like it to be. Thoughts on this comparison from any one with experience of both?

Does the mild hybrid have an affect on the cars performance at all, I've seen on the likes of youtube that people tend to get 0-62 in around 4.1 seconds.. Does anyone have a MHT M340i X that could confirm 0-62 times? I just wondered what affect if any does the MHT have on the car in general really.

Also, since the MHT introduction, have exhaust sound been lost at all?

Thanks all for taking the time to read and respond.

Some would say the 21’ is faster than the ‘20. It might be because of the mild hybrid, add an extra 11 hp. Nice car btw

That's good news.. I hope that's the case. Thank you, I really hope the color combo with the red callipers works in the real life!

Has anyone compared the two? I thought it was a bit of a wash because of the added weight.

No I don't believe so. However I did see a near stock 21' m340i beat a c63. I was amazed. The m340i was running 95 octane and a down pipe

If it helps:

2020 M340i stock 0-60mph using Dragy (certified time): 3.96s

That was back in summer in South Africa with 27C ambient and 93 pump fuel which is the best we get.

Cold weather and better fuel would be even more impressive.

That is awesome. Do you guys have the same 374 hp version as us in the UK? I know the US market have the 38.. something hp output. I know it's a tiny difference, just be interesting to know.

Beat how? 1/4 mile, 1/8 mile, 0-60?
And was tuned or just 95 oct with a downpipe?

C63 driver must have had no legs.

I mean the c63 can do 0-60 which is on par with the m340i.

We only get the full blooded 285kw version - no MHEV for our market even with the new 21's arriving.

What's your thoughts on the exhaust sound? Is it muted or does it still sound pretty good?

Thanks

I don't think it's that bad…Certainly quieter than my old M140 was and I'd like a little more but I don't think it's quite as bad as some people say, still get a few burbles on the over run.

Not perfect but not terrible!

Ok, I've got a 540i at the moment so a slight improvement on that would be nice.

I'll be taking it to DMS when they are able to crack it, they certainly made a difference to the 540i lots pops and burbles than before.

Yes I'll be paying DMS a visit once they've cracked the DME, I had my M140 done by them and my last car a F30 330d done by them also. A remap would bring the M340i up to where it needs to be I think.

Awesome and nice to see the engine benefitting slightly from improved timings with decent fuel !
