Those arguing should photoshop the BMW badge out of the rear and ask ppl what car is it.....100% will say its a lexus
But then ppl now only cares for how many HP and what the lease rate is for the car, nothing else matters

What was your prior BMW? As I wouldn't return my M4 vert or X5M early, and excited with the new G20 styling and technology will be in the future G83 (M4 vert in 3 years). PS I converted my wife who was a former Lexus brand loyalist over to BMW- no comparison.

BMW as a company caters for everybody. If you want a hard core sedan, M3 is there for you. It seems some people want to enjoy M car characteristics without paying for it. I appreciate both the soft and hard BMW cars. My back says so

Let's be clear and 100% honest. Besides the person that posted the pics with all the BMW taillight design no one mentioned the origination of the "L bar" design.
I felt it became more prominent on the LCI E9x lights where the double bar design was used. It then matriculated to the E71/E70 LCI and the whole F chassis generation of cars. (Look at the 6 series taillight design which inspired the new 8 series) Now similar to the halos, it was slowly getting reduced. 3/4 circle, to half circle (roughly) and now quarter or 1/3 circle. My point is the design language went from double bar to single bar. Beginning with the 8 series or X2 depend on which was officially released or spied pics. That's the new taillight design language as it appears. (G20) I'll close it with this comment and question. Being that BMW started as a airplane company, don't the single bar design resemble the wings of a plane with a flared upward design at the end of the wing? |

So what you're saying is that the problem ISN'T the L motif in the rear light cluster, it's the clusters themselves being rectangular? Who did BMW pilfer rectangular rear light clusters from I wonder? Pythagoras? Wait, must be Lexus too, surely.

I like BMWs too, and spent retarded money to mod mine, but I'm not going to deny that it reminds me of a Lexus. It is what it is. Shit, now that I think about it, it looks more like the RX350 tail light I do like that the housing is 3D though.

My point is simply that the L motif is not something that is uniquely Lexus. If you ask me, BMW and Lexus have equal claim to the design feature, and it's unlikely that the theme will stop with either manufacturer. |

housing shape, housing 3d element, housing shading, etc For BMW it's definitely new. For Lexus, they have been doing this for years now. That's why it reminds me of it.

As I've stated, if it reminds you of a Lexus design, it's no water off my back. I thought the E90 when it first debuted oddly resembled a Nissan Primera, heck I knew someone that thought the Porsche Carrera GT looked like an Alfa Romeo somehow. People will see things differently, and it's all equally parts frustrating and fascinating at the same time. All things considered though, it is pretty cool that automotive design is something that still fascinates people as much as it evidently is. |
