Steering Wheel 'Issues'

So I may have 2 steering wheel issues but wanted to check with the forum to get your thoughts on them. i40 eDrive with M Sport wheel. Feb ‘22 build.

When turning the wheel at slower speeds I hear a rubbing sound. Nothing that can be heard with music on but certainly when it is off. It sounds like it’s coming from the steering wheel. Almost like where it connects to the column.
When using the drive assist, I’ve noticed lately i am getting the warning to engage with the steering wheel. But the thing is my hands are on the wheel and it’s ‘forcing’ me to grab the wheel harder just to get the lights and messages to stop flashing. Last week it was like every 15 seconds while driving. Almost like the sensors in the wheel had gone bad.

Will bring in for service shortly but wanted to see what others may or may not be experiencing.

I had something similar on my 2-series Gran Tourer. BMW replaced the steering gear as there was an issue with the electric assist.

"Potential" safety issue and I think they will take that seriously at the dealer. Better to just let them deal with it and get it taken care of.
