Some few shot from the delivery

It was time to pick up the screwdriver after some few hours. If BMW canīt make it perfect, Ill have to do it by myself. The sun visor for the passenger side:

And since the car couldnīt be delivered with integrated remote control, Ill need to replace that as well:

Some few days after, it was time to replace to the classic BMW badges at the hood, bonnet and wheel center caps:

I took the lazy version for the wheel center caps..

Iīm one of the guys who hates the new mechanical column stalks. Therefore, I retrofitted the old self returning and smoothly working column stalks. The car feels so premium with those stalks and the best of all - the Auto button for the rain sensor.

I think you can see and feel the difference already by this photo.

Voila!

And when the airbag was removed, I replaced the whole airbag as well. From this:

To this:

One of the most annoying cost cutting thing from BMW is that they removed the auto dim mirror for passenger side. Since i canīt live with that, I had to dismantle the mirror into molecules:

The color is nice.
Also I like the interior. It looks exactly like mine. 😁

What was required to swap the auto dim mirror?
Did you need additional wiring?

Had a week in the western side of Norway and got some experience with realistic range and public charging. First of all - the car impresses with the actual range. I drove from Oslo to Gol (202km) the first day and used 46% of the battery. The second day was going from Gol to Skjolden (197km) where the car used 45% of the battery - the total use for 399km was 91% - quite good for fully loaded car and with the widest 20" inch wheels. For those who doesn't know where these places are or what kind of demographics it is, we are talking about mountain passes with a total height of 13-1400m - it goes up and down, up and down, up and down an so on. Oslo and Skjolden are at the same sea level, so the route is quite good for testing real range.

The jungle of apps, hashtags, sms charging and what so is a big nightmare. What the hell is problem with using the credit card? Every charing stations has their own app or way do to charging, and its just freaking annoying. Luckily, the BMW Charging card does work at all stations and everything worked smoothly - tap the card and charge!

First HPC-charging

My last name are the same as this sign, so it was necessary to do a picture at this spot.

We went to some big, creepy abandoned buildings..

It seems like i found where BMW gets their leathers. Individual Tartufo and Ivory white to the right.. :P

The beautiful Walaker Hotel was built in the 1640s..

It was a BMW meeting yesterday from our official BMW club. Got first place for the most beautiful BMWi-car.

Looks great! Admire all your OEM-plus mods!

Looking forward to these mods specifically:

For the RHD outside mirror: do you need to do any wiring, or just replace the glass? Would you mind sharing the part number, please?

Iīm going to paint the side skirts in the beginning of August. Not sure about the diamonds, since i actually like it how it is. I have to investegate more on the Soft Close project. I was waiting for the G60 5-series release to use the soft close from this, but it seems like BMW has abandoned the soft close. Its not available for the G60 5-series.

You need to replace the whole mirror electronics and mirror glass. No coding required. I dont have the part number at the moment, but I can get it at a later time.

Swappet the seats yesterday and going to reupholstery next week. Can I claim to be the worlds first i4 with M-seats, merino and ventilation?

Starting with some before pictures.

Time to start the work..

Comparison. The F97 X3 M seats are much deeper than the OEM sport seats.

First in..

A bunch of errors. Time to clean!

And the final result. Everything works perfect.

Ventilation works perfectly!

It seems like the i-section of this forum is dead, but Iīll give it an update anyway. One of the thing I hate about the 4-series and lower models is the lack of passenger functions. We do not either have passenger central door lock button over here, so I decided to try retrofit the central door lock button (and the same time swap to galvanic controls) and passenger seat memory.

Since I did not want the galvanic window switch panel and memory button, I didnīt order the car with this feature. In my opinion, the "semi galvanic" looks best.

Before with black central door lock button:

The passenger side without anything:

BMW removed the door pocket ambient lighting from 07/2022 (MY2023), so I bought parts to get that retrofitted as well:

Had to do some wirings for all the features:

And the finish product - Galvanic central door lock buttons on both sides and seat memory for the passenger:

I just got the silver start/stop button from G2x 330e (without "engine" lettering):

And for the black M-sport seats. The car are being reupholstered as we speak. Sneak peak

Thank you very much for posting this - my individual i4M50 replacement is being built in September and I am interested in doing some of the mods you have done.
You mentioned you had to do some wiring to get the lower door pocket ambient lighting and the seat memory. Could you provide more detail as to what parts were required and what wiring was required.
Many thanks

Hugely impressed with your build. One of few disappointments with the car are the seats and I’m looking to pick up a set out of an M3 or X3M, but have never attempted a project of this type - could you provide any more detail as to the level of integration work that was needed? Was the physical swap pretty much plug-and-play? How did you go about clearing the codes?

Looking forward to seeing where you take this!

Hello! Did retrofitting the passenger seat memory button require only coding without replacing the seat ECU and servos? I went your way and first retrofitted a G32 passenger dimming mirror. Now turn I4, mirror, central locking and seat memory.

Hi BMW-Alpina,

Work looks great and seemingly easy?
Do you mind sharing some more information regarding the passenger memory buttons?

I'm tempting to do the same to my vehicle and create a write-up unless you're keen on doing that. Love to share some knowledge on other retrofits of course!

You have to make custom wiring for the memory switch and the door pocket ambient light. Its not easy to explain over a single post, so I have to see if I can make a DIY guide.

Yes, the OEM seats was not good at all. I really hated them. The seats are just a physical swap and coding (just code the seat module to the car and activate the different motors if they was set as not active).

The seat modules are identical for both passenger and driver seats. Therefore, the memory coding is available on the passenger side. You need pos+, neg-, beifahrer-LIN for the memory switch and custom coding.

The need to re-upholster in OP's case is a bit extreme for me, but if I had a color that matched one of the stock M sport seats, it would have certainly been an xmas present to myself last year.
