Hands on review of the i4 M50 - its still feels like a BMW

Not trying to start the endless "what's really an M car" debate, but wanted to share the I4 M50 review I recently shot. BMW Seattle let me get hands on with the car for a little bit, and wanted to share it with yall!

Check it out, its certainly interesting no matter how you slice it as the new 4 series, or an EV, or new technology like the iDrive 8 and screens.

Thank you for pointing out the differences between the 440i GC and this i4 in the beginning of your video. There's so many ignorant people who just think it's a 440 GC with 2 electric motors. Really liked the review.

A question on one of your comments. You said that BMW has a partnership with EvGo. Did you mean Electrify America since owners get 2 years of free charging?

It could be they have both partnerships? The info I had was talking about the EvGO specifically.

Can you define "partnership"? I'm unaware of a one with EvGo.

Here is the sticky thread plus the link to the official press release and speaks directly to EvGO.

Got it. Thanks. This is interesting. I wonder why BMW would announce this partnership with EVgo, but give 2 years free charging with Electrify America? Also, I wonder if any owners received this:

With the new BMW Charging Powered by EVgo partnership, buyers and lessees of qualifying fully electric BMW models will receive $100 in EVgo charging credit that can be used at EVgo and partner network stations across all 50 states.

Interesting review. I would have liked to see the cargo area as part of the review. It's going to be interesting to see how these age.

I've driven an iX but not the i4. Wish I'd have driven the i4 as it appears to have what I need.

BMW had an existing relationship with EVgo, for the i3, i8, 330e, etc.. my guess is they just ended that relationship and went with EA, which is IMO a "better" network... or at least has more locations. I don't think an EA announcement was made until you could actually order the car in Nov/Dec... but I could be wrong.

When I picked my i4 up on 16 April 2022...there was zero EVgo awards available. Perhaps it is new, or upcoming?

That's an old press release... the EA partnership was announced in February 2022: https://media.electrifyamerica.com/en-us/releases/168
