Nah..........referring to BMW's high-efficiency engines of the mid-1980s. Those cars (325e & 528e) carried the "e" designation, also

The idea of a low rpm / high torque design point was a departure from previous and subsequent BMW engine designs. But, if you're attempting to maximize combustion efficiency (in the early 1980s) slowing down the process (i.e., low rpm) to focus on head/piston design is one approach.

My '85 325e had a 5-speed and cloth sport seats. Accordingly, my opinions of the eta engine are more favorable.
