330e missing cover(s) in engine bay?
Hi,
I got my MY2021 330e xDrive (made in 10/2020) delivered recently and I've noticed that the 2 plastic covers in front of the engine bay (just on top of the headlight heatsinks) are not there: Here is a picture of a MY2020 330e (made in 2019) that has both covers: My car has laser headlights, whereas the other one has the adaptive LED headlights. Would that be a reason why the covers are not there? If so, why aren't the more expensive lights uncovered? Is it due to heat? Could someone also check their G20 if it has the covers or not? Thanks for any info. |

just checked 2 of them here. One has them (built 3/20) and one does not (built 6/20)

I think those with active protection will have it.

I have a 2019 and it has them. Next week I'll get a new Touring 330e and I'll check and let you know.

I have a late 2019 Build with lasers, I have the covers..
Weird, could be either minute costs savings or they deemed they were not necessary or the assys needed more cooling/less restriction

I wonder if that's not a potential issue given the fact that there are some quite thin cables running through in that area, and it's good practice to wash the engine bay.

I just noticed this thread. My early model 2020 M340i has the covers. I recently drove a later build 2020 M340i and a 2021 330i, both did not have those covers.

Here are the OEM part numbers for the headlight covers:
51767499927 51767499928 Source: https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...0&postcount=21 They cost $10... I guess the price wasn't why BMW stopped installing them? |
