No more Dravit or Tanzanite for MY2021?!

I just saw the configurator for the 2021 M340i no longer has Dravit or Tanzanite. I understand these colors were not available on Mexico builds, only on German builds. Does this mean they are gone for good? Or only temporarily? I've heard the German factory is closed this month for retooling, any chance there will still be some limited allocations available once they reopen? I was really set on ordering a Dravit car ASAP.

I'm assuming because Germany is the only factory that has the individual paints, being that the factory is going to remain closed for another month there's no allocation for Germany builds, so they blocked the colors. Even when the 2021 configurator was released there was a disclaimer about dravit and tanzanite being limited

Garage List
Likely temporary. BMW's experiencing supply issues across model lineups with colors/options.

Hi guys, In Austria you can order Dravit Grey, I go mine in May 2020 and just after 20 days guy hit my front bumper in a car wash... I just got my car fixed in BMW official service but to my sharp eye they did not get the color right...
So in that sense Dravit grey is very bad color... I am still not sure what to do, car had only 1800km when I had accident. Anybody with similar unfortunate accident, and how about your paint job in the end?
Thanks

It's possibly it's just not a great shop...official or not.

From the picture idk it doesn't look like the factory dravit gray. In the sun light does it have that golden/brown hue to it ?

That's a very bad colour match!

Yet it does, but in my opinion much less then the rest of the car. . Anyway I was in Denzel (official BMW partner in Vienna) today and they are claiming that is the best it could be. We are waiting now for independent BMW guy to estimate and give final ruling. They say that guy is quality assurance person that works in BMW.

I am glad you also could see difference because they are all convincing me that it is due to angle or sunlight...
If you guys have any advice what to do let me know. Thanks

Sorry for you trouble with the paint. Honestly I would not accept that. The difference is blatantly obvious. There should be a little since the car is metal and the bumper is plastic but not that much.

I’ve seen better color matching from a touch up job whipped up in 5 min by an auto repair guy.

interesting i guess i feel pretty lucky to have ordered tanzanite when i did....

tanzanite is gone on the X5 also and that was always built in the US, so maybe they ran out of paint?

Curious if anyone has heard any update of when Tanzanite may be available again for order on the 2021 M340? My dealer has not heard anything.

Thanks.

It’s all about allocations. Your dealer needs a German built allocation. And my understanding is those are hard to come by. I don’t know if there are *any* available in the US market right now. Has anyone gotten a German allocation lately?

+1, thats an appalling match. If you can see it in a photo it must be even worse in person.
And my guess is they KNOW as much but just want you to go away
Keep up the pressure!

I had exactly the same problem having 2000km in my car (m340 dravit grey) but with the rear bumper... I am confident that they can improve the color matching in your car..... In my case I was basically a detective in the authorized BMW body shop asking for the color codes used (then comparing them to the glasurit formula that you can find online)...then I requested a paint sample that end up being 7 samples until they got the perfect color ..... all this took me many visits to the body shop and some incentives ($$) to the guy mixing the colors.... a real headache but at the end I am very happy with the results...
