Figured it out.

Looking from the headliner to the plastic trim I don't seem a seam to try and use trim tools to pry apart at like others have described. I do see a seam on the smaller rounded black piece but that does not looks like it would expose the wires. Maybe I just am misunderstanding what comes off but from pictures it looks like two pieces which I don't see.

Does anyone have any idea?
I figured it out. I popped the cover off that is up against the headliner then was to separate the two half's. As others mentioned I did break some small plastic pieces but everything does go back together normally and you can't tell.

Escort Max 360c Stays On in 2020 Z4

I connected my wires according to the photo (What a pain in the A$$). The MAx 360c stays on when the vehicle is off. I am not sure if there is a switched wire in the housing or not. I always remove the detector for security sake it's not a huge deal but I would have liked to leave it on at home.

It will turn off after a couple minutes, it takes some time to go to sleep

The Max360 may have a setting that shuts itself off after a selected time. My RL360c does I think that feature is an Escort standard.

Side question, isn't radar hardware illegal where you guys live, because here cops carry anti-antiradar equipment and if they catch you with one there are severe penalties, thus why I use android auto and waze, because people tag radars.

Radar detectors are legal in most of the US, i think just Virginia and Washington DC have them banned.

High end detectors cannot be detected with radar detector-detectors

Radar detectors are banned in Washington DC & Virginia, not West Virginia.

Could someone post a video removing the rear view mirror? I simply can't get it off.

You don't have to remove the mirror, just the trim

It should pull right out. Use one hand (or a tool) to keep the part it plugs into in place and pull on the plastic of the harness

Yeah it should be easy but for some reason it's not. Even taking off mirror housing I had to put enough force to where the right side literally flew off, it simply wasn't coming off.

The part it plugs into moves around as well correct?

Correct, I had to hold it in place

I swear whoever put this car together made sure it wasn't gonna a be taken apart easily. I'd like to see a video of someone doing the process so I can see how easy it's supposed to be. Not only am i having a hard time removing the plug, there's no way this mirror is coming off the harness.

You can still do it without removing the cable from the harness, its just easier that way. You just have to push in the pins of the RJ11 adapter

I wired up my Uniden R7 the same way with the same power tap, and it used to cut the power to the radar detector when the car was turned off and the door was opened. Recently I've noticed that now it remains powered on for about 45 minutes or so after locking the car. Has anyone else encountered this?

Your mirror tap may always be powered on turnoff may be a function of a an R7 setting. Maybe tied to no change in GPS, no motion of the car. Some detectors work that way I am not familiar with the R7.

Hi, I'm new here, and struggling with the same issue as you. The plug is very difficult to disconnect from the mirror. And I cannot get a good angle to properly plug in the rj-11 cable while the plug is still connected.

Does anyone have any tips on how to remove the mirror so I can get a better angle to disconnect the plug?

Thanks, I did, but I'm still unable to remove the mirror. Can you please clarify in the picture where to apply pressure to release the mirror? Do I first apply pressure in the direction of arrow 1? Then while applying pressure to arrow 1, apply pressure in the direction of arrow 2 on the left and right side of the mirror? Thanks.

I currently have the Uniden R3 - it was hardwired to a driverside fuse in my S4, and sat near the headliner next to the mirror, however, this time I like the cleaner look of the blendmount - can any one post more pics from the drivers perspective?

Some of the other pics I've seen appear to make it look like it sits so low - does anyone find that it blocks your view or is distracting? or is it just a matter of getting used to it?

Thanks!
