Sounds like they break you up into groups based on your skill level so not necessarily.

yep, but it is based on you telling them your skill

driving is like sex, everyone thinks they are good at it

so no doubt whatever the highest driver level, people will say they are it, but they really don't belong

This. I was at an M Track Day last year. There was this 20-ish guy talking about how their car is modded so these "stock" M2/3/4's are going to feel slow. He then started to critique other drivers as they did laps on the small course.

At the end of the day he was nowhere near the top fastest times. He was also looking kind of pale after going on the big track.

For M Track Day they break you into groups, but even the fastest groups were paced by the instructors. I've easily hit 145 on the back straight at Thermal Club during the 2 Day M School. For both M Track Day's I've attended, they paced us at around 120-130.

Also, for the 2 Day M School, they led us around slower groups so we could open it up. For M Track Day, we weren't allowed to overtake slower groups.

I think it depends on the instructors/facility. Because at Monticello in 2018 we overtook plenty of slower groups and the pace was also pretty quick, no one really was held up/left behind and the instructors weren't lollygagging.

Not me. Even though I did the 2 day M school I know I'm still on the slow end.
